In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:1
ۙ ۚ ۚ
O you who believe, do not take My enemy and your enemy as allies, offering them affection when they have denied the truth that has come to you and are expelling the messenger and you because you believe in The God, your Lord—if you have gone out to strive in My way and seek My approval. You secretly offer them affection, while I know best what you conceal and what you reveal. Whoever among you does this has strayed from the straight way.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:2
If they gain the upper hand over you, they will be your enemies and stretch out their hands and tongues against you with harm; they wish that you would disbelieve.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:3
ۚ ۚ
Your relatives and children will not benefit you. On the Day of Resurrection He will judge between you; The God sees what you do.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:4
ۖ
You have a good example in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, “We are free of you and whatever you worship besides The God. We reject you, and enmity and hatred have appeared between us and you forever, until you believe in The God alone”—except for Abraham’s words to his father, “I will surely ask forgiveness for you, though I have no power for you against The God.” “Our Lord, in You we trust, to You we turn, and to You is the final return.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:5
ۖ
Our Lord, do not make us a trial for those who disbelieve, and forgive us, our Lord. You are the Mighty, the Wise.”
Al-Mumtahanah 60:6
ۚ
In them you have a good example, for whoever hopes in The God and the Last Day. Whoever turns away, The God is the Self-Sufficient, the Praiseworthy.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:7
ۚ ۚ
Perhaps The God will place affection between you and those among them with whom you have been enemies. The God is able; The God is Forgiving and Merciful.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:8
ۚ
The God does not forbid you to be good and just toward those who have not fought you over religion or expelled you from your homes. The God loves those who act justly.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:9
ۚ
The God only forbids you to ally yourselves with those who fought you over religion, expelled you from your homes, and supported your expulsion. Those who ally themselves with them are the wrongdoers.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:10
ۖ ۖ ۖ ۖ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۖ ۚ
O you who believe, when believing women come to you as emigrants, examine them; The God knows their faith best. If you find them to be believers, do not return them to the disbelievers. These women are not lawful for those men, nor are those men lawful for them. Give the men what they have spent. There is no blame on you for marrying the women when you give them their bridal dues. Do not retain marital bonds with disbelieving women. Ask for what you have spent, and let them ask for what they have spent. This is the judgment of The God; He judges between you. The God is Knowing and Wise.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:11
ۚ
If any of your wives are lost to you to the disbelievers, and your turn then comes, give those whose wives have gone the equivalent of what they spent. Be mindful of The God, in whom you believe.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:12
ۙ ۖ
O Prophet, when believing women come to you pledging that they will associate nothing with The God, will not steal, commit adultery, or kill their children, will not bring a slander they fabricate between their hands and feet, and will not disobey you in what is right, accept their pledge and ask The God to forgive them. The God is Forgiving and Merciful.
Al-Mumtahanah 60:13
O you who believe, do not ally yourselves with a people upon whom The God is angry. They have despaired of the Hereafter, just as the disbelievers have despaired of the inhabitants of the graves.
