Surah An-Nahl

·The Bee·128 Verses

In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

An-Nahl 16:1

ۚ

The command of The God has come, so do not seek to hasten it. Glory be to Him, and exalted is He above what they associate.

An-Nahl 16:2

He sends down the angels with the spirit, by His command, upon whom He wills of His servants: “Warn that there is no god except Me, so be mindful of Me.”

An-Nahl 16:3

ۚ

He created the heavens and the earth in truth. Exalted is He above what they associate.

An-Nahl 16:4

He created the human being from a drop, and suddenly he is an open disputant.

An-Nahl 16:5

ۗ

And the livestock—He created them for you; in them are warmth and benefits, and from them you eat.

An-Nahl 16:6

In them there is beauty for you when you bring them home and when you send them out to pasture.

An-Nahl 16:7

ۚ

They carry your loads to a land you could not reach except with great exertion. Surely your Lord is Kind, Merciful.

An-Nahl 16:8

ۚ

And horses, mules, and donkeys, for you to ride and as adornment. And He creates what you do not know.

An-Nahl 16:9

ۚ

Upon The God is the direction of the way, and some ways are deviating. Had He willed, He would have guided you all.

An-Nahl 16:10

ۖ

He is the One who sent down water from the sky; from it you have drink, and from it comes vegetation in which you pasture.

An-Nahl 16:11

ۗ

With it He grows for you crops, olives, date palms, grapes, and all kinds of fruits. Surely in that is a sign for people who reflect.

An-Nahl 16:12

ۖ ۗ

He subjected the night, the day, the sun, and the moon to you, and the stars are subjected by His command. Surely in that are signs for people who reason.

An-Nahl 16:13

ۗ

And what He has brought forth for you on earth, varied in its colors—surely in that is a sign for people who take heed.

An-Nahl 16:14

He is the One who subjected the sea so that you may eat fresh meat from it and bring forth ornaments from it that you wear. You see the ships plowing through it, so that you may seek His bounty and be grateful.

An-Nahl 16:15

He cast firm mountains upon the earth lest it sway with you, and rivers and paths so that you may find your way,

An-Nahl 16:16

ۚ

And landmarks. And by the star they find their way.

An-Nahl 16:17

ۗ

Is the One who creates like one who does not create? Will you not take heed?

An-Nahl 16:18

ۗ

If you count the favor of The God, you cannot enumerate it. Surely The God is Forgiving, Merciful.

An-Nahl 16:19

The God knows what you conceal and what you reveal.

An-Nahl 16:20

Those whom they call upon apart from The God create nothing and are themselves created.

An-Nahl 16:21

ۖ

They are dead, not living, and they do not perceive when they will be raised.

An-Nahl 16:22

ۚ

Your God is One God. Those who do not believe in the Hereafter have denying hearts, and they are arrogant.

An-Nahl 16:23

ۚ

Certainly The God knows what they conceal and what they reveal. He does not love the arrogant.

An-Nahl 16:24

ۙ

When they are asked, “What has your Lord sent down?” they say, “Tales of earlier peoples.”

An-Nahl 16:25

ۙ ۗ

So that they may carry their burdens in full on the Day of Resurrection, and some of the burdens of those whom they lead astray without knowledge. How evil is what they bear!

An-Nahl 16:26

Those before them schemed, but The God came upon their building from its foundations, and the roof fell upon them from above. The punishment came to them from where they did not perceive.

An-Nahl 16:27

ۚ

Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, “Where are My partners over whom you used to contend?” Those given knowledge will say, “Today disgrace and evil are upon the disbelievers.”

An-Nahl 16:28

ۖ ۚ

Those whom the angels take while they are wronging themselves will offer surrender: “We were doing no evil.” Yes indeed, The God knows what you used to do.

An-Nahl 16:29

ۖ

So enter the gates of Hell, remaining there. Wretched indeed is the abode of the arrogant.

An-Nahl 16:30

ۚ ۗ ۚ ۚ

Those who were mindful are asked, “What has your Lord sent down?” They say, “Good.” For those who do good there is good in this world, and the home of the Hereafter is better. How excellent is the home of the mindful!

An-Nahl 16:31

ۖ ۚ

Gardens of lasting residence which they enter, beneath which rivers flow. They have in them whatever they wish. Thus The God rewards the mindful.

An-Nahl 16:32

ۙ

Those whom the angels take while they are good and pure, saying, “Peace be upon you. Enter the Garden because of what you used to do.”

An-Nahl 16:33

ۚ ۚ

Are they waiting for anything but the angels to come to them or the command of your Lord to come? Those before them did likewise. The God did not wrong them, but they were wronging themselves.

An-Nahl 16:34

The evils of what they did struck them, and what they used to mock engulfed them.

An-Nahl 16:35

ۚ ۚ

Those who associated partners said, “Had The God willed, neither we nor our fathers would have worshipped anything apart from Him, nor would we have forbidden anything apart from Him.” Those before them did likewise. Are the messengers responsible for anything except clear delivery?

An-Nahl 16:36

ۖ ۚ

We certainly raised a messenger in every community: “Worship The God and avoid tyranny.” Among them were those whom The God guided and those upon whom error became established. So travel through the earth and see how the deniers ended.

An-Nahl 16:37

ۖ

If you are eager for their guidance, The God does not guide those He leads astray, and they have no helpers.

An-Nahl 16:38

ۙ ۚ

They swore by The God their strongest oaths: “The God will not raise those who die.” Yes indeed—a true promise binding upon Him, but most people do not know.

An-Nahl 16:39

So that He may make clear to them what they differ about, and so that those who disbelieved may know that they were liars.

An-Nahl 16:40

Our word to a thing when We will it is only that We say to it, “Be,” and it is.

An-Nahl 16:41

ۖ ۚ

Those who emigrated for The God after being wronged—We will surely settle them well in this world. And the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

An-Nahl 16:42

Those who endured patiently and put their trust in their Lord.

An-Nahl 16:43

ۚ

We sent before you only men to whom We revealed. So ask the people of the Reminder if you do not know.

An-Nahl 16:44

ۗ

With clear proofs and writings. We sent down the Reminder to you so that you may make clear to people what was sent down to them, and so that they may reflect.

An-Nahl 16:45

Do those who devise evil schemes feel secure that The God will not cause the earth to swallow them, or that the punishment will not come to them from where they do not perceive?

An-Nahl 16:46

Or that He will not seize them in their movements, while they cannot escape His power?

An-Nahl 16:47

Or that He will not seize them through gradual diminution? Surely your Lord is Kind, Merciful.

An-Nahl 16:48

Have they not looked at what The God has created, its shadows shifting to the right and left, prostrating to The God while they are humbled?

An-Nahl 16:49

To The God prostrates whatever living creature is in the heavens and on earth, and the angels, and they are not arrogant.

An-Nahl 16:50

۩

They fear their Lord above them and do what they are commanded.

An-Nahl 16:51

ۖ ۖ

The God said, “Do not take two gods. He is only One God, so fear Me alone.”

An-Nahl 16:52

ۚ

Whatever is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him, and obedience is His continually. Will you then be mindful of other than The God?

An-Nahl 16:53

ۖ

Whatever favor you have is from The God. Then, when harm touches you, to Him you cry out.

An-Nahl 16:54

Then, when He removes the harm from you, a group of you associates partners with their Lord,

An-Nahl 16:55

ۚ ۖ

To be ungrateful for what We have given them. So enjoy yourselves; you will soon know.

An-Nahl 16:56

ۗ

They assign a share of what We have provided them to what they do not know. By The God, you will surely be questioned about what you used to fabricate.

An-Nahl 16:57

ۙ

They assign daughters to The God—glory be to Him—and for themselves what they desire.

An-Nahl 16:58

When one of them is given news of a female, his face grows dark and he suppresses his distress.

An-Nahl 16:59

ۚ ۗ

He hides from the people because of the bad news he has been given. Will he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the dust? How evil is their judgment!

An-Nahl 16:60

ۖ ۚ

For those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the evil description, and for The God is the highest description. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

An-Nahl 16:61

ۖ ۖ

If The God were to take people to task for their wrongdoing, He would leave no living creature upon it. But He delays them until a specified term. When their term comes, they neither delay it an hour nor advance it.

An-Nahl 16:62

ۖ

They assign to The God what they dislike, and their tongues assert the lie that the best is for them. Certainly the Fire is for them, and they will be sent ahead.

An-Nahl 16:63

By The God, We sent to communities before you, but Satan adorned their deeds for them. He is their patron today, and they will have a painful punishment.

An-Nahl 16:64

ۙ

We sent down the Book upon you only so that you may make clear to them what they differed about, and as guidance and mercy for people who believe.

An-Nahl 16:65

ۚ

The God sent down water from the sky and with it revived the earth after its death. Surely in that is a sign for people who listen.

An-Nahl 16:66

ۖ

Surely in livestock there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink from what is in its belly, from between digested matter and blood, pure milk, pleasant to those who drink.

An-Nahl 16:67

ۗ

From the fruits of date palms and grapes you take intoxicating drink and good provision. Surely in that is a sign for people who reason.

An-Nahl 16:68

Your Lord revealed to the bee: “Take homes in the mountains, in the trees, and in what they build.”

An-Nahl 16:69

ۚ ۗ

“Then eat from all the fruits and follow your Lord’s paths, made easy.” From their bellies comes a drink of varying colors in which there is healing for people. Surely in that is a sign for people who reflect.

An-Nahl 16:70

ۚ ۚ

The God created you, then takes you. Among you is one who is returned to the most feeble age, so that after knowledge he knows nothing. Surely The God is Knowing, Powerful.

An-Nahl 16:71

ۚ ۚ

The God has favored some of you over others in provision. Those favored do not hand their provision over to those whom their right hands possess, so that they would be equal in it. Do they then deny the favor of The God?

An-Nahl 16:72

ۚ

The God made for you spouses from among yourselves, and from your spouses made sons and grandchildren for you, and provided you with good things. Do they then believe in falsehood and disbelieve in the favor of The God?

An-Nahl 16:73

They worship apart from The God what possesses no provision at all for them from the heavens and the earth, and they have no ability.

An-Nahl 16:74

ۚ

So do not set forth likenesses for The God. The God knows, and you do not know.

An-Nahl 16:75

ۖ ۚ ۚ

The God sets forth a likeness: an owned servant who has no power over anything, and one whom We have provided with good provision from Us, who spends from it secretly and openly. Are they equal? Praise belongs to The God, but most of them do not know.

An-Nahl 16:76

ۖ ۙ

The God sets forth a likeness of two men: one is mute, has no power over anything, and is a burden to his master; wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice and is on a straight path?

An-Nahl 16:77

ۚ ۚ

To The God belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth. The matter of the Hour is only like the blink of an eye, or nearer. Surely The God has power over all things.

An-Nahl 16:78

ۙ

The God brought you out of your mothers’ wombs knowing nothing, and gave you hearing, sight, and hearts, so that you may be grateful.

An-Nahl 16:79

ۗ

Have they not looked at the birds subjected in the air of the sky? None holds them except The God. Surely in that are signs for people who believe.

An-Nahl 16:80

ۙ

The God made your houses a place of rest for you, and made homes for you from livestock skins, which you find light on the day of your departure and the day of your stay; and from their wool, fur, and hair, furnishings and enjoyment for a time.

An-Nahl 16:81

ۚ

The God made shade for you from what He created, shelters for you in the mountains, garments that protect you from heat, and garments that protect you in your fighting. Thus He completes His favor upon you so that you may submit.

An-Nahl 16:82

If they turn away, your responsibility is only clear delivery.

An-Nahl 16:83

They recognize the favor of The God, then deny it, and most of them are disbelievers.

An-Nahl 16:84

On the day We raise a witness from every community, those who disbelieved will not be given permission, nor will they be asked to make amends.

An-Nahl 16:85

When those who did wrong see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be granted respite.

An-Nahl 16:86

ۖ

When those who associated partners see their partners, they will say, “Our Lord, these are our partners whom we used to call upon apart from You.” But they will cast back the word to them: “You are surely liars.”

An-Nahl 16:87

ۖ

On that day they will offer surrender to The God, and what they used to fabricate will vanish from them.

An-Nahl 16:88

Those who disbelieved and turned others away from the path of The God—We added punishment upon punishment for them because they used to spread corruption.

An-Nahl 16:89

ۖ ۚ

On the day We raise in every community a witness against them from among themselves, and bring you as a witness against these. We sent down the Book upon you as clarification of all things, guidance, mercy, and good news for those who submit.

An-Nahl 16:90

ۚ

Surely The God commands justice, doing good, and giving to relatives, and forbids indecency, wrongdoing, and transgression. He admonishes you so that you may take heed.

An-Nahl 16:91

ۚ

Fulfill the covenant of The God when you make a covenant, and do not break oaths after confirming them, having made The God your guarantor. The God knows what you do.

An-Nahl 16:92

ۚ ۚ

Do not be like the woman who undid her yarn into strands after it was strong, taking your oaths as deception among yourselves because one community is greater than another. The God only tests you through it. On the Day of Resurrection He will surely make clear to you what you differed about.

An-Nahl 16:93

ۚ

Had The God willed, He would have made you one community. But He leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills, and you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.

An-Nahl 16:94

ۖ

Do not take your oaths as deception among yourselves, lest a foot slip after being firm and you taste evil because you turned others away from the path of The God, and you have a great punishment.

An-Nahl 16:95

ۚ

Do not exchange the covenant of The God for a small price. What is with The God is better for you, if you know.

An-Nahl 16:96

ۖ ۗ

What is with you runs out, and what is with The God remains. We will surely reward those who endured patiently according to the best of what they used to do.

An-Nahl 16:97

ۖ

Whoever does righteous work, male or female, while a believer, We will surely give them a good life, and We will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do.

An-Nahl 16:98

When you recite the Quran, seek refuge in The God from the outcast Satan.

An-Nahl 16:99

He has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.

An-Nahl 16:100

His authority is only over those who take him as a patron and those who associate partners through him.

An-Nahl 16:101

ۙ ۚ

When We replace a sign with another sign—and The God knows best what He sends down—they say, “You are only a fabricator.” But most of them do not know.

An-Nahl 16:102

Say, “The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord in truth, to make those who believe firm, and as guidance and good news for those who submit.”

An-Nahl 16:103

ۗ

We certainly know that they say, “Only a human teaches him.” The tongue of the one they allude to is foreign, while this is a clear Arabic tongue.

An-Nahl 16:104

Those who do not believe in the signs of The God—The God does not guide them, and they will have a painful punishment.

An-Nahl 16:105

ۖ

Only those who do not believe in the signs of The God fabricate lies. They are the liars.

An-Nahl 16:106

Whoever disbelieves in The God after believing—except one who is compelled while their heart is secure in faith—but those who open their breasts to disbelief, upon them is anger from The God, and they will have a great punishment.

An-Nahl 16:107

That is because they preferred the worldly life to the Hereafter, and because The God does not guide the disbelieving people.

An-Nahl 16:108

ۖ

They are those whose hearts, hearing, and sight The God has sealed. They are the heedless.

An-Nahl 16:109

Certainly in the Hereafter they are the losers.

An-Nahl 16:110

Then your Lord, for those who emigrated after being put to trial, then strove and endured patiently—surely your Lord after that is Forgiving, Merciful.

An-Nahl 16:111

On the day every soul comes pleading for itself, and every soul is repaid in full for what it did, and they are not wronged.

An-Nahl 16:112

The God sets forth a likeness of a town that was secure and at ease, its provision coming abundantly from every place. But it was ungrateful for the favors of The God, so The God made it taste the covering of hunger and fear because of what they used to do.

An-Nahl 16:113

A messenger from among themselves certainly came to them, but they denied him, and the punishment seized them while they were wrongdoers.

An-Nahl 16:114

Eat of what The God has provided you, lawful and good, and be grateful for the favor of The God, if it is Him you worship.

An-Nahl 16:115

ۖ

He has only forbidden you carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and what has been dedicated to other than The God. But whoever is compelled, neither seeking it nor exceeding the limit—The God is Forgiving, Merciful.

An-Nahl 16:116

ۚ

Do not say, in the lie your tongues describe, “This is lawful and this is forbidden,” to fabricate lies against The God. Those who fabricate lies against The God do not prosper.

An-Nahl 16:117

A little enjoyment, and they will have a painful punishment.

An-Nahl 16:118

ۖ

To those who became Jews We forbade what We related to you before. We did not wrong them, but they were wronging themselves.

An-Nahl 16:119

Then your Lord, for those who did evil in ignorance, then repented afterward and made amends—surely your Lord after that is Forgiving, Merciful.

An-Nahl 16:120

Surely Abraham was a community, devoutly obedient to The God, inclining to truth, and he was not among the associators.

An-Nahl 16:121

ۚ

Grateful for His favors. He chose him and guided him to a straight path.

An-Nahl 16:122

ۖ

We gave him good in this world, and in the Hereafter he is surely among the righteous.

An-Nahl 16:123

ۖ

Then We revealed to you: “Follow the way of Abraham, inclining to truth.” He was not among the associators.

An-Nahl 16:124

ۚ

The Sabbath was imposed only upon those who differed about it. Your Lord will surely judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they differed about.

An-Nahl 16:125

ۖ ۚ ۖ

Call to the path of your Lord with wisdom and good admonition, and argue with them in the best manner. Surely your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best those who are guided.

An-Nahl 16:126

ۖ

If you retaliate, retaliate with the like of what was inflicted upon you. But if you endure patiently, that is better for the patient.

An-Nahl 16:127

ۚ

Be patient, and your patience is only through The God. Do not grieve over them or be distressed by what they scheme.

An-Nahl 16:128

Surely The God is with those who are mindful and those who do good.
