بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Al-Hijr 15:1

الر ۚ تِلكَ ءايٰتُ الكِتٰبِ وَقُرءانٍ مُبينٍ

Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the signs of the Book and a clear Quran.

Al-Hijr 15:2

رُبَما يَوَدُّ الَّذينَ كَفَروا لَو كانوا مُسلِمينَ

Those who disbelieved may wish that they had been submitters.

Al-Hijr 15:3

ذَرهُم يَأكُلوا وَيَتَمَتَّعوا وَيُلهِهِمُ الأَمَلُ ۖ فَسَوفَ يَعلَمونَ

Leave them to eat and enjoy themselves and let hope distract them; they will soon know.

Al-Hijr 15:4

وَما أَهلَكنا مِن قَريَةٍ إِلّا وَلَها كِتابٌ مَعلومٌ

We destroyed no town without its having a known decree.

Al-Hijr 15:5

ما تَسبِقُ مِن أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَها وَما يَستَـٔخِرونَ

No community precedes its appointed term, nor do they delay it.

Al-Hijr 15:6

وَقالوا يٰأَيُّهَا الَّذى نُزِّلَ عَلَيهِ الذِّكرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجنونٌ

They said, “You upon whom the Reminder has been sent down, you are surely mad.”

Al-Hijr 15:7

لَو ما تَأتينا بِالمَلٰئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصّٰدِقينَ

“Why do you not bring us the angels, if you are among the truthful?”

Al-Hijr 15:8

ما نُنَزِّلُ المَلٰئِكَةَ إِلّا بِالحَقِّ وَما كانوا إِذًا مُنظَرينَ

We do not send down the angels except in truth, and then they would not be granted respite.

Al-Hijr 15:9

إِنّا نَحنُ نَزَّلنَا الذِّكرَ وَإِنّا لَهُ لَحٰفِظونَ

Surely We Ourselves sent down the Reminder, and surely We are its guardians.

Al-Hijr 15:10

وَلَقَد أَرسَلنا مِن قَبلِكَ فى شِيَعِ الأَوَّلينَ

We certainly sent before you among the groups of earlier peoples.

Al-Hijr 15:11

وَما يَأتيهِم مِن رَسولٍ إِلّا كانوا بِهِ يَستَهزِءونَ

No messenger came to them without their mocking him.

Al-Hijr 15:12

كَذٰلِكَ نَسلُكُهُ فى قُلوبِ المُجرِمينَ

Thus We cause it to enter the hearts of the guilty.

Al-Hijr 15:13

لا يُؤمِنونَ بِهِ ۖ وَقَد خَلَت سُنَّةُ الأَوَّلينَ

They do not believe in it, and the way of earlier peoples has already passed.

Al-Hijr 15:14

وَلَو فَتَحنا عَلَيهِم بابًا مِنَ السَّماءِ فَظَلّوا فيهِ يَعرُجونَ

Even if We opened a gate in the sky for them and they kept ascending through it,

Al-Hijr 15:15

لَقالوا إِنَّما سُكِّرَت أَبصٰرُنا بَل نَحنُ قَومٌ مَسحورونَ

They would surely say, “Our eyes have only been blocked; rather, we are a bewitched people.”

Al-Hijr 15:16

وَلَقَد جَعَلنا فِى السَّماءِ بُروجًا وَزَيَّنّٰها لِلنّٰظِرينَ

We certainly placed constellations in the sky and adorned it for those who look.

Al-Hijr 15:17

وَحَفِظنٰها مِن كُلِّ شَيطٰنٍ رَجيمٍ

And We guarded it from every outcast devil,

Al-Hijr 15:18

إِلّا مَنِ استَرَقَ السَّمعَ فَأَتبَعَهُ شِهابٌ مُبينٌ

Except one who steals a hearing, whom a clear flame pursues.

Al-Hijr 15:19

وَالأَرضَ مَدَدنٰها وَأَلقَينا فيها رَوٰسِىَ وَأَنبَتنا فيها مِن كُلِّ شَىءٍ مَوزونٍ

We spread out the earth, cast firm mountains upon it, and caused every measured thing to grow in it.

Al-Hijr 15:20

وَجَعَلنا لَكُم فيها مَعٰيِشَ وَمَن لَستُم لَهُ بِرٰزِقينَ

We placed means of livelihood in it for you and for those whom you do not provide for.

Al-Hijr 15:21

وَإِن مِن شَىءٍ إِلّا عِندَنا خَزائِنُهُ وَما نُنَزِّلُهُ إِلّا بِقَدَرٍ مَعلومٍ

There is nothing whose treasuries are not with Us, and We send it down only in a known measure.

Al-Hijr 15:22

وَأَرسَلنَا الرِّيٰحَ لَوٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلنا مِنَ السَّماءِ ماءً فَأَسقَينٰكُموهُ وَما أَنتُم لَهُ بِخٰزِنينَ

We sent the winds as fertilizing winds, then sent down water from the sky and gave it to you to drink. You are not its keepers.

Al-Hijr 15:23

وَإِنّا لَنَحنُ نُحيۦ وَنُميتُ وَنَحنُ الوٰرِثونَ

Surely it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the inheritors.

Al-Hijr 15:24

وَلَقَد عَلِمنَا المُستَقدِمينَ مِنكُم وَلَقَد عَلِمنَا المُستَـٔخِرينَ

We certainly know those among you who go ahead, and We certainly know those who remain behind.

Al-Hijr 15:25

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحشُرُهُم ۚ إِنَّهُ حَكيمٌ عَليمٌ

Surely your Lord is the One who will gather them. He is Wise, Knowing.

Al-Hijr 15:26

وَلَقَد خَلَقنَا الإِنسٰنَ مِن صَلصٰلٍ مِن حَمَإٍ مَسنونٍ

We certainly created the human being from sounding clay, from altered dark mud.

Al-Hijr 15:27

وَالجانَّ خَلَقنٰهُ مِن قَبلُ مِن نارِ السَّمومِ

And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.

Al-Hijr 15:28

وَإِذ قالَ رَبُّكَ لِلمَلٰئِكَةِ إِنّى خٰلِقٌ بَشَرًا مِن صَلصٰلٍ مِن حَمَإٍ مَسنونٍ

And when your Lord said to the angels, “I am creating a human from sounding clay, from altered dark mud.”

Al-Hijr 15:29

فَإِذا سَوَّيتُهُ وَنَفَختُ فيهِ مِن روحى فَقَعوا لَهُ سٰجِدينَ

“When I have formed him and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration.”

Al-Hijr 15:30

فَسَجَدَ المَلٰئِكَةُ كُلُّهُم أَجمَعونَ

So the angels prostrated, all of them together,

Al-Hijr 15:31

إِلّا إِبليسَ أَبىٰ أَن يَكونَ مَعَ السّٰجِدينَ

Except Iblis; he refused to be among those who prostrated.

Al-Hijr 15:32

قالَ يٰإِبليسُ ما لَكَ أَلّا تَكونَ مَعَ السّٰجِدينَ

He said, “Iblis, what is the matter with you that you are not with those who prostrate?”

Al-Hijr 15:33

قالَ لَم أَكُن لِأَسجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقتَهُ مِن صَلصٰلٍ مِن حَمَإٍ مَسنونٍ

He said, “I am not one to prostrate before a human whom You created from sounding clay, from altered dark mud.”

Al-Hijr 15:34

قالَ فَاخرُج مِنها فَإِنَّكَ رَجيمٌ

He said, “Then leave it, for you are an outcast.”

Al-Hijr 15:35

وَإِنَّ عَلَيكَ اللَّعنَةَ إِلىٰ يَومِ الدّينِ

“And surely the curse is upon you until the Day of Recompense.”

Al-Hijr 15:36

قالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرنى إِلىٰ يَومِ يُبعَثونَ

He said, “My Lord, grant me respite until the day they are raised.”

Al-Hijr 15:37

قالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ المُنظَرينَ

He said, “Then you are among those granted respite,

Al-Hijr 15:38

إِلىٰ يَومِ الوَقتِ المَعلومِ

Until the day of the known time.”

Al-Hijr 15:39

قالَ رَبِّ بِما أَغوَيتَنى لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُم فِى الأَرضِ وَلَأُغوِيَنَّهُم أَجمَعينَ

He said, “My Lord, because You led me astray, I will surely adorn things for them on earth, and I will surely lead them all astray,

Al-Hijr 15:40

إِلّا عِبادَكَ مِنهُمُ المُخلَصينَ

Except Your purified servants among them.”

Al-Hijr 15:41

قالَ هٰذا صِرٰطٌ عَلَىَّ مُستَقيمٌ

He said, “This is a straight path incumbent upon Me.”

Al-Hijr 15:42

إِنَّ عِبادى لَيسَ لَكَ عَلَيهِم سُلطٰنٌ إِلّا مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الغاوينَ

“Surely you have no authority over My servants, except those of the misguided who follow you.”

Al-Hijr 15:43

وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوعِدُهُم أَجمَعينَ

“And surely Hell is the appointed place for them all.”

Al-Hijr 15:44

لَها سَبعَةُ أَبوٰبٍ لِكُلِّ بابٍ مِنهُم جُزءٌ مَقسومٌ

It has seven gates; for each gate is an allotted portion of them.

Al-Hijr 15:45

إِنَّ المُتَّقينَ فى جَنّٰتٍ وَعُيونٍ

Surely the mindful are among gardens and springs.

Al-Hijr 15:46

ادخُلوها بِسَلٰمٍ ءامِنينَ

“Enter them in peace, secure.”

Al-Hijr 15:47

وَنَزَعنا ما فى صُدورِهِم مِن غِلٍّ إِخوٰنًا عَلىٰ سُرُرٍ مُتَقٰبِلينَ

We remove whatever rancor is in their breasts; as brothers, they are on couches facing one another.

Al-Hijr 15:48

لا يَمَسُّهُم فيها نَصَبٌ وَما هُم مِنها بِمُخرَجينَ

No weariness touches them there, nor will they be expelled from it.

Al-Hijr 15:49

نَبِّئ عِبادى أَنّى أَنَا الغَفورُ الرَّحيمُ

Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,

Al-Hijr 15:50

وَأَنَّ عَذابى هُوَ العَذابُ الأَليمُ

And that My punishment is the painful punishment.

Al-Hijr 15:51

وَنَبِّئهُم عَن ضَيفِ إِبرٰهيمَ

And inform them of Abraham’s guests.

Al-Hijr 15:52

إِذ دَخَلوا عَلَيهِ فَقالوا سَلٰمًا قالَ إِنّا مِنكُم وَجِلونَ

When they entered upon him and said, “Peace,” he said, “We are afraid of you.”

Al-Hijr 15:53

قالوا لا تَوجَل إِنّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلٰمٍ عَليمٍ

They said, “Do not be afraid. We bring you good news of a knowledgeable boy.”

Al-Hijr 15:54

قالَ أَبَشَّرتُمونى عَلىٰ أَن مَسَّنِىَ الكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرونَ

He said, “Do you bring me good news when old age has reached me? Of what, then, do you give me good news?”

Al-Hijr 15:55

قالوا بَشَّرنٰكَ بِالحَقِّ فَلا تَكُن مِنَ القٰنِطينَ

They said, “We have brought you good news in truth, so do not be among the despairing.”

Al-Hijr 15:56

قالَ وَمَن يَقنَطُ مِن رَحمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا الضّالّونَ

He said, “Who despairs of his Lord’s mercy except those who are astray?”

Al-Hijr 15:57

قالَ فَما خَطبُكُم أَيُّهَا المُرسَلونَ

He said, “Then what is your business, messengers?”

Al-Hijr 15:58

قالوا إِنّا أُرسِلنا إِلىٰ قَومٍ مُجرِمينَ

They said, “We have been sent to a guilty people,

Al-Hijr 15:59

إِلّا ءالَ لوطٍ إِنّا لَمُنَجّوهُم أَجمَعينَ

Except the household of Lot; we will surely save them all,

Al-Hijr 15:60

إِلَّا امرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرنا ۙ إِنَّها لَمِنَ الغٰبِرينَ

Except his wife. We have determined that she will be among those who remain behind.”

Al-Hijr 15:61

فَلَمّا جاءَ ءالَ لوطٍ المُرسَلونَ

When the messengers came to the household of Lot,

Al-Hijr 15:62

قالَ إِنَّكُم قَومٌ مُنكَرونَ

He said, “You are unfamiliar people.”

Al-Hijr 15:63

قالوا بَل جِئنٰكَ بِما كانوا فيهِ يَمتَرونَ

They said, “Rather, we have come to you with what they used to doubt.”

Al-Hijr 15:64

وَأَتَينٰكَ بِالحَقِّ وَإِنّا لَصٰدِقونَ

“We have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful.”

Al-Hijr 15:65

فَأَسرِ بِأَهلِكَ بِقِطعٍ مِنَ الَّيلِ وَاتَّبِع أَدبٰرَهُم وَلا يَلتَفِت مِنكُم أَحَدٌ وَامضوا حَيثُ تُؤمَرونَ

“Set out with your family during a part of the night, and follow behind them. Let none of you look back, and proceed where you are commanded.”

Al-Hijr 15:66

وَقَضَينا إِلَيهِ ذٰلِكَ الأَمرَ أَنَّ دابِرَ هٰؤُلاءِ مَقطوعٌ مُصبِحينَ

We conveyed this matter to him: the last remnant of these people would be cut off by morning.

Al-Hijr 15:67

وَجاءَ أَهلُ المَدينَةِ يَستَبشِرونَ

The people of the city came rejoicing.

Al-Hijr 15:68

قالَ إِنَّ هٰؤُلاءِ ضَيفى فَلا تَفضَحونِ

He said, “These are my guests, so do not disgrace me.”

Al-Hijr 15:69

وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلا تُخزونِ

“And be mindful of The God, and do not humiliate me.”

Al-Hijr 15:70

قالوا أَوَلَم نَنهَكَ عَنِ العٰلَمينَ

They said, “Did we not forbid you concerning all people?”

Al-Hijr 15:71

قالَ هٰؤُلاءِ بَناتى إِن كُنتُم فٰعِلينَ

He said, “These are my daughters, if you are going to act.”

Al-Hijr 15:72

لَعَمرُكَ إِنَّهُم لَفى سَكرَتِهِم يَعمَهونَ

By your life, they were wandering blindly in their intoxication.

Al-Hijr 15:73

فَأَخَذَتهُمُ الصَّيحَةُ مُشرِقينَ

Then the blast seized them at sunrise.

Al-Hijr 15:74

فَجَعَلنا عٰلِيَها سافِلَها وَأَمطَرنا عَلَيهِم حِجارَةً مِن سِجّيلٍ

We turned its upper part upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them.

Al-Hijr 15:75

إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِلمُتَوَسِّمينَ

Surely in that are signs for those who discern.

Al-Hijr 15:76

وَإِنَّها لَبِسَبيلٍ مُقيمٍ

And it is on an enduring road.

Al-Hijr 15:77

إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايَةً لِلمُؤمِنينَ

Surely in that is a sign for the believers.

Al-Hijr 15:78

وَإِن كانَ أَصحٰبُ الأَيكَةِ لَظٰلِمينَ

The people of the thicket were indeed wrongdoers.

Al-Hijr 15:79

فَانتَقَمنا مِنهُم وَإِنَّهُما لَبِإِمامٍ مُبينٍ

So We exacted retribution from them, and both are on a clear road.

Al-Hijr 15:80

وَلَقَد كَذَّبَ أَصحٰبُ الحِجرِ المُرسَلينَ

The people of Al-Hijr certainly denied the messengers.

Al-Hijr 15:81

وَءاتَينٰهُم ءايٰتِنا فَكانوا عَنها مُعرِضينَ

We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them.

Al-Hijr 15:82

وَكانوا يَنحِتونَ مِنَ الجِبالِ بُيوتًا ءامِنينَ

They carved houses out of the mountains, secure.

Al-Hijr 15:83

فَأَخَذَتهُمُ الصَّيحَةُ مُصبِحينَ

Then the blast seized them in the morning.

Al-Hijr 15:84

فَما أَغنىٰ عَنهُم ما كانوا يَكسِبونَ

What they used to earn did not avail them.

Al-Hijr 15:85

وَما خَلَقنَا السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضَ وَما بَينَهُما إِلّا بِالحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ السّاعَةَ لَـٔاتِيَةٌ ۖ فَاصفَحِ الصَّفحَ الجَميلَ

We did not create the heavens, the earth, and what is between them except in truth. Surely the Hour is coming, so overlook with a gracious overlooking.

Al-Hijr 15:86

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الخَلّٰقُ العَليمُ

Surely your Lord is the Knowing Creator.

Al-Hijr 15:87

وَلَقَد ءاتَينٰكَ سَبعًا مِنَ المَثانى وَالقُرءانَ العَظيمَ

We certainly gave you seven of the oft-repeated and the great Quran.

Al-Hijr 15:88

لا تَمُدَّنَّ عَينَيكَ إِلىٰ ما مَتَّعنا بِهِ أَزوٰجًا مِنهُم وَلا تَحزَن عَلَيهِم وَاخفِض جَناحَكَ لِلمُؤمِنينَ

Do not extend your eyes toward what We have given groups of them to enjoy. Do not grieve over them, and lower your wing to the believers.

Al-Hijr 15:89

وَقُل إِنّى أَنَا النَّذيرُ المُبينُ

And say, “I am the clear warner.”

Al-Hijr 15:90

كَما أَنزَلنا عَلَى المُقتَسِمينَ

Just as We sent down upon the dividers,

Al-Hijr 15:91

الَّذينَ جَعَلُوا القُرءانَ عِضينَ

Those who made the Quran into fragments.

Al-Hijr 15:92

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسـَٔلَنَّهُم أَجمَعينَ

By your Lord, We will surely question them all,

Al-Hijr 15:93

عَمّا كانوا يَعمَلونَ

About what they used to do.

Al-Hijr 15:94

فَاصدَع بِما تُؤمَرُ وَأَعرِض عَنِ المُشرِكينَ

So proclaim openly what you are commanded, and turn away from the associators.

Al-Hijr 15:95

إِنّا كَفَينٰكَ المُستَهزِءينَ

Surely We have sufficed you against the mockers,

Al-Hijr 15:96

الَّذينَ يَجعَلونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلٰهًا ءاخَرَ ۚ فَسَوفَ يَعلَمونَ

Those who set up another god alongside The God. They will soon know.

Al-Hijr 15:97

وَلَقَد نَعلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضيقُ صَدرُكَ بِما يَقولونَ

We certainly know that your breast tightens at what they say.

Al-Hijr 15:98

فَسَبِّح بِحَمدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِنَ السّٰجِدينَ

So glorify your Lord with praise, and be among those who prostrate.

Al-Hijr 15:99

وَاعبُد رَبَّكَ حَتّىٰ يَأتِيَكَ اليَقينُ

And worship your Lord until certainty comes to you.
