بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Ar-Rum 30:1

الم

Alif, Lam, Mim.

Ar-Rum 30:2

غُلِبَتِ الرّومُ

The Romans have been defeated,

Ar-Rum 30:3

فى أَدنَى الأَرضِ وَهُم مِن بَعدِ غَلَبِهِم سَيَغلِبونَ

In the nearest land. Yet after their defeat they will prevail,

Ar-Rum 30:4

فى بِضعِ سِنينَ ۗ لِلَّهِ الأَمرُ مِن قَبلُ وَمِن بَعدُ ۚ وَيَومَئِذٍ يَفرَحُ المُؤمِنونَ

Within a few years. Command belongs to The God before and after. On that day the believers will rejoice,

Ar-Rum 30:5

بِنَصرِ اللَّهِ ۚ يَنصُرُ مَن يَشاءُ ۖ وَهُوَ العَزيزُ الرَّحيمُ

In The God’s help. He helps whom He wills, and He is the Mighty, the Merciful.

Ar-Rum 30:6

وَعدَ اللَّهِ ۖ لا يُخلِفُ اللَّهُ وَعدَهُ وَلٰكِنَّ أَكثَرَ النّاسِ لا يَعلَمونَ

The God’s promise. The God does not break His promise, but most people do not know.

Ar-Rum 30:7

يَعلَمونَ ظٰهِرًا مِنَ الحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا وَهُم عَنِ الـٔاخِرَةِ هُم غٰفِلونَ

They know an outward aspect of worldly life, while they are heedless of the Hereafter.

Ar-Rum 30:8

أَوَلَم يَتَفَكَّروا فى أَنفُسِهِم ۗ ما خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضَ وَما بَينَهُما إِلّا بِالحَقِّ وَأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثيرًا مِنَ النّاسِ بِلِقائِ رَبِّهِم لَكٰفِرونَ

Have they not reflected within themselves? The God created the heavens, the earth, and what is between them only in truth and for an appointed term. Yet many people disbelieve in meeting their Lord.

Ar-Rum 30:9

أَوَلَم يَسيروا فِى الأَرضِ فَيَنظُروا كَيفَ كانَ عٰقِبَةُ الَّذينَ مِن قَبلِهِم ۚ كانوا أَشَدَّ مِنهُم قُوَّةً وَأَثارُوا الأَرضَ وَعَمَروها أَكثَرَ مِمّا عَمَروها وَجاءَتهُم رُسُلُهُم بِالبَيِّنٰتِ ۖ فَما كانَ اللَّهُ لِيَظلِمَهُم وَلٰكِن كانوا أَنفُسَهُم يَظلِمونَ

Have they not traveled through the earth to see how those before them ended? They were stronger than these, worked the earth, and built it up more than these have built it up. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. The God was not wronging them, but they were wronging themselves.

Ar-Rum 30:10

ثُمَّ كانَ عٰقِبَةَ الَّذينَ أَسٰـُٔوا السّوأىٰ أَن كَذَّبوا بِـٔايٰتِ اللَّهِ وَكانوا بِها يَستَهزِءونَ

Then the end of those who did evil was the worst, because they denied The God’s signs and mocked them.

Ar-Rum 30:11

اللَّهُ يَبدَؤُا۟ الخَلقَ ثُمَّ يُعيدُهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيهِ تُرجَعونَ

The God begins creation, then repeats it. Then to Him you will be returned.

Ar-Rum 30:12

وَيَومَ تَقومُ السّاعَةُ يُبلِسُ المُجرِمونَ

On the day the Hour arises, the guilty will fall into despair.

Ar-Rum 30:13

وَلَم يَكُن لَهُم مِن شُرَكائِهِم شُفَعٰؤُا۟ وَكانوا بِشُرَكائِهِم كٰفِرينَ

They will have no intercessors among their partners, and they will disown their partners.

Ar-Rum 30:14

وَيَومَ تَقومُ السّاعَةُ يَومَئِذٍ يَتَفَرَّقونَ

On the day the Hour arises, that day they will separate.

Ar-Rum 30:15

فَأَمَّا الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ فَهُم فى رَوضَةٍ يُحبَرونَ

Those who believe and do righteous deeds will be delighted in a meadow.

Ar-Rum 30:16

وَأَمَّا الَّذينَ كَفَروا وَكَذَّبوا بِـٔايٰتِنا وَلِقائِ الـٔاخِرَةِ فَأُولٰئِكَ فِى العَذابِ مُحضَرونَ

Those who disbelieve and deny Our signs and the meeting of the Hereafter will be brought into the punishment.

Ar-Rum 30:17

فَسُبحٰنَ اللَّهِ حينَ تُمسونَ وَحينَ تُصبِحونَ

So glory be to The God when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning,

Ar-Rum 30:18

وَلَهُ الحَمدُ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَعَشِيًّا وَحينَ تُظهِرونَ

And praise belongs to Him in the heavens and the earth, and in the late afternoon and when you enter midday.

Ar-Rum 30:19

يُخرِجُ الحَىَّ مِنَ المَيِّتِ وَيُخرِجُ المَيِّتَ مِنَ الحَىِّ وَيُحىِ الأَرضَ بَعدَ مَوتِها ۚ وَكَذٰلِكَ تُخرَجونَ

He brings the living out of the dead and the dead out of the living, and gives life to the earth after its death. Thus you will be brought out.

Ar-Rum 30:20

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ أَن خَلَقَكُم مِن تُرابٍ ثُمَّ إِذا أَنتُم بَشَرٌ تَنتَشِرونَ

Among His signs is that He created you from dust; then you became human beings spreading out.

Ar-Rum 30:21

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ أَن خَلَقَ لَكُم مِن أَنفُسِكُم أَزوٰجًا لِتَسكُنوا إِلَيها وَجَعَلَ بَينَكُم مَوَدَّةً وَرَحمَةً ۚ إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِقَومٍ يَتَفَكَّرونَ

Among His signs is that He created spouses for you from yourselves, so that you may find rest with them, and placed affection and mercy between you. There are indeed signs in this for people who reflect.

Ar-Rum 30:22

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ خَلقُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَاختِلٰفُ أَلسِنَتِكُم وَأَلوٰنِكُم ۚ إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِلعٰلِمينَ

Among His signs are the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and colors. There are indeed signs in this for those who know.

Ar-Rum 30:23

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ مَنامُكُم بِالَّيلِ وَالنَّهارِ وَابتِغاؤُكُم مِن فَضلِهِ ۚ إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِقَومٍ يَسمَعونَ

Among His signs are your sleep by night and day and your seeking of His favor. There are indeed signs in this for people who hear.

Ar-Rum 30:24

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ يُريكُمُ البَرقَ خَوفًا وَطَمَعًا وَيُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّماءِ ماءً فَيُحيۦ بِهِ الأَرضَ بَعدَ مَوتِها ۚ إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِقَومٍ يَعقِلونَ

Among His signs, He shows you lightning for fear and hope, and sends water down from the sky, bringing the earth to life with it after its death. There are indeed signs in this for people who use reason.

Ar-Rum 30:25

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ أَن تَقومَ السَّماءُ وَالأَرضُ بِأَمرِهِ ۚ ثُمَّ إِذا دَعاكُم دَعوَةً مِنَ الأَرضِ إِذا أَنتُم تَخرُجونَ

Among His signs is that the sky and the earth stand by His command. Then, when He calls you with a call from the earth, you come forth.

Ar-Rum 30:26

وَلَهُ مَن فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ ۖ كُلٌّ لَهُ قٰنِتونَ

To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. All are obedient to Him.

Ar-Rum 30:27

وَهُوَ الَّذى يَبدَؤُا۟ الخَلقَ ثُمَّ يُعيدُهُ وَهُوَ أَهوَنُ عَلَيهِ ۚ وَلَهُ المَثَلُ الأَعلىٰ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ ۚ وَهُوَ العَزيزُ الحَكيمُ

He is the One who begins creation, then repeats it, and that is easier for Him. His is the highest description in the heavens and the earth. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

Ar-Rum 30:28

ضَرَبَ لَكُم مَثَلًا مِن أَنفُسِكُم ۖ هَل لَكُم مِن ما مَلَكَت أَيمٰنُكُم مِن شُرَكاءَ فى ما رَزَقنٰكُم فَأَنتُم فيهِ سَواءٌ تَخافونَهُم كَخيفَتِكُم أَنفُسَكُم ۚ كَذٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الـٔايٰتِ لِقَومٍ يَعقِلونَ

He sets forth a comparison for you from yourselves. Do you have, among those your right hands possess, partners in what We have provided you, so that you are equal in it and fear them as you fear one another? Thus We explain the signs for people who use reason.

Ar-Rum 30:29

بَلِ اتَّبَعَ الَّذينَ ظَلَموا أَهواءَهُم بِغَيرِ عِلمٍ ۖ فَمَن يَهدى مَن أَضَلَّ اللَّهُ ۖ وَما لَهُم مِن نٰصِرينَ

Rather, those who do wrong follow their desires without knowledge. Who can guide one whom The God has led astray? They have no helpers.

Ar-Rum 30:30

فَأَقِم وَجهَكَ لِلدّينِ حَنيفًا ۚ فِطرَتَ اللَّهِ الَّتى فَطَرَ النّاسَ عَلَيها ۚ لا تَبديلَ لِخَلقِ اللَّهِ ۚ ذٰلِكَ الدّينُ القَيِّمُ وَلٰكِنَّ أَكثَرَ النّاسِ لا يَعلَمونَ

So set your face toward the religion, inclining to what is upright—the natural disposition of The God upon which He formed people. There is no altering The God’s creation. That is the upright religion, but most people do not know.

Ar-Rum 30:31

مُنيبينَ إِلَيهِ وَاتَّقوهُ وَأَقيمُوا الصَّلوٰةَ وَلا تَكونوا مِنَ المُشرِكينَ

Turning back to Him, be mindful of Him, establish prayer, and do not be among those who associate partners,

Ar-Rum 30:32

مِنَ الَّذينَ فَرَّقوا دينَهُم وَكانوا شِيَعًا ۖ كُلُّ حِزبٍ بِما لَدَيهِم فَرِحونَ

Among those who divided their religion and became factions, each party rejoicing in what it has.

Ar-Rum 30:33

وَإِذا مَسَّ النّاسَ ضُرٌّ دَعَوا رَبَّهُم مُنيبينَ إِلَيهِ ثُمَّ إِذا أَذاقَهُم مِنهُ رَحمَةً إِذا فَريقٌ مِنهُم بِرَبِّهِم يُشرِكونَ

When harm touches people, they call upon their Lord, turning back to Him. Then, when He lets them taste mercy from Him, a group of them associates partners with their Lord,

Ar-Rum 30:34

لِيَكفُروا بِما ءاتَينٰهُم ۚ فَتَمَتَّعوا فَسَوفَ تَعلَمونَ

To be ungrateful for what We have given them. So enjoy yourselves; you will soon know.

Ar-Rum 30:35

أَم أَنزَلنا عَلَيهِم سُلطٰنًا فَهُوَ يَتَكَلَّمُ بِما كانوا بِهِ يُشرِكونَ

Or have We sent down to them an authority that speaks of what they associate with Him?

Ar-Rum 30:36

وَإِذا أَذَقنَا النّاسَ رَحمَةً فَرِحوا بِها ۖ وَإِن تُصِبهُم سَيِّئَةٌ بِما قَدَّمَت أَيديهِم إِذا هُم يَقنَطونَ

When We let people taste mercy, they rejoice in it. But if an evil befalls them because of what their hands have sent ahead, they despair.

Ar-Rum 30:37

أَوَلَم يَرَوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَبسُطُ الرِّزقَ لِمَن يَشاءُ وَيَقدِرُ ۚ إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِقَومٍ يُؤمِنونَ

Have they not seen that The God expands provision for whom He wills and restricts it? There are indeed signs in this for people who believe.

Ar-Rum 30:38

فَـٔاتِ ذَا القُربىٰ حَقَّهُ وَالمِسكينَ وَابنَ السَّبيلِ ۚ ذٰلِكَ خَيرٌ لِلَّذينَ يُريدونَ وَجهَ اللَّهِ ۖ وَأُولٰئِكَ هُمُ المُفلِحونَ

So give the relative his due, and the needy and the traveler. That is better for those who seek The God’s face, and they are the successful.

Ar-Rum 30:39

وَما ءاتَيتُم مِن رِبًا لِيَربُوَا۟ فى أَموٰلِ النّاسِ فَلا يَربوا عِندَ اللَّهِ ۖ وَما ءاتَيتُم مِن زَكوٰةٍ تُريدونَ وَجهَ اللَّهِ فَأُولٰئِكَ هُمُ المُضعِفونَ

Whatever you give as riba to increase within people’s wealth does not increase with The God. But whatever you give as zakat, seeking The God’s face—those are the ones who multiply.

Ar-Rum 30:40

اللَّهُ الَّذى خَلَقَكُم ثُمَّ رَزَقَكُم ثُمَّ يُميتُكُم ثُمَّ يُحييكُم ۖ هَل مِن شُرَكائِكُم مَن يَفعَلُ مِن ذٰلِكُم مِن شَىءٍ ۚ سُبحٰنَهُ وَتَعٰلىٰ عَمّا يُشرِكونَ

The God is the One who created you, then provided for you, then causes you to die, then brings you to life. Is there anyone among your partners who does any of this? Glory be to Him, exalted above what they associate with Him.

Ar-Rum 30:41

ظَهَرَ الفَسادُ فِى البَرِّ وَالبَحرِ بِما كَسَبَت أَيدِى النّاسِ لِيُذيقَهُم بَعضَ الَّذى عَمِلوا لَعَلَّهُم يَرجِعونَ

Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what people’s hands have earned, so that He may let them taste some of what they have done, so that they may return.

Ar-Rum 30:42

قُل سيروا فِى الأَرضِ فَانظُروا كَيفَ كانَ عٰقِبَةُ الَّذينَ مِن قَبلُ ۚ كانَ أَكثَرُهُم مُشرِكينَ

Say: Travel through the earth and see how those before you ended. Most of them associated partners.

Ar-Rum 30:43

فَأَقِم وَجهَكَ لِلدّينِ القَيِّمِ مِن قَبلِ أَن يَأتِىَ يَومٌ لا مَرَدَّ لَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۖ يَومَئِذٍ يَصَّدَّعونَ

So set your face toward the upright religion before a day comes from The God that cannot be turned back. On that day they will separate.

Ar-Rum 30:44

مَن كَفَرَ فَعَلَيهِ كُفرُهُ ۖ وَمَن عَمِلَ صٰلِحًا فَلِأَنفُسِهِم يَمهَدونَ

Whoever disbelieves bears his own disbelief. Those who do righteous work prepare for themselves,

Ar-Rum 30:45

لِيَجزِىَ الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ مِن فَضلِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لا يُحِبُّ الكٰفِرينَ

So that He may reward from His favor those who believe and do righteous deeds. He does not love the disbelievers.

Ar-Rum 30:46

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ أَن يُرسِلَ الرِّياحَ مُبَشِّرٰتٍ وَلِيُذيقَكُم مِن رَحمَتِهِ وَلِتَجرِىَ الفُلكُ بِأَمرِهِ وَلِتَبتَغوا مِن فَضلِهِ وَلَعَلَّكُم تَشكُرونَ

Among His signs is that He sends the winds as bearers of good news, to let you taste His mercy, for ships to sail by His command, and for you to seek His favor, so that you may give thanks.

Ar-Rum 30:47

وَلَقَد أَرسَلنا مِن قَبلِكَ رُسُلًا إِلىٰ قَومِهِم فَجاءوهُم بِالبَيِّنٰتِ فَانتَقَمنا مِنَ الَّذينَ أَجرَموا ۖ وَكانَ حَقًّا عَلَينا نَصرُ المُؤمِنينَ

We sent messengers before you to their peoples, and they came to them with clear proofs. We then exacted retribution from those who committed crimes. Helping the believers was a duty upon Us.

Ar-Rum 30:48

اللَّهُ الَّذى يُرسِلُ الرِّيٰحَ فَتُثيرُ سَحابًا فَيَبسُطُهُ فِى السَّماءِ كَيفَ يَشاءُ وَيَجعَلُهُ كِسَفًا فَتَرَى الوَدقَ يَخرُجُ مِن خِلٰلِهِ ۖ فَإِذا أَصابَ بِهِ مَن يَشاءُ مِن عِبادِهِ إِذا هُم يَستَبشِرونَ

The God is the One who sends the winds, which stir up a cloud. He spreads it in the sky as He wills and makes it into fragments; then you see rain coming out from within it. When He causes it to reach whom He wills of His servants, they rejoice,

Ar-Rum 30:49

وَإِن كانوا مِن قَبلِ أَن يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيهِم مِن قَبلِهِ لَمُبلِسينَ

Although before it was sent down upon them, before that, they had been in despair.

Ar-Rum 30:50

فَانظُر إِلىٰ ءاثٰرِ رَحمَتِ اللَّهِ كَيفَ يُحىِ الأَرضَ بَعدَ مَوتِها ۚ إِنَّ ذٰلِكَ لَمُحىِ المَوتىٰ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَىءٍ قَديرٌ

Look at the effects of The God’s mercy: how He brings the earth to life after its death. That One will surely bring the dead to life, and He has power over everything.

Ar-Rum 30:51

وَلَئِن أَرسَلنا ريحًا فَرَأَوهُ مُصفَرًّا لَظَلّوا مِن بَعدِهِ يَكفُرونَ

If We send a wind and they see it yellowed, they continue afterward in disbelief.

Ar-Rum 30:52

فَإِنَّكَ لا تُسمِعُ المَوتىٰ وَلا تُسمِعُ الصُّمَّ الدُّعاءَ إِذا وَلَّوا مُدبِرينَ

You cannot make the dead hear, nor make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs.

Ar-Rum 30:53

وَما أَنتَ بِهٰدِ العُمىِ عَن ضَلٰلَتِهِم ۖ إِن تُسمِعُ إِلّا مَن يُؤمِنُ بِـٔايٰتِنا فَهُم مُسلِمونَ

Nor can you guide the blind out of their error. You can make none hear except those who believe in Our signs, and they submit.

Ar-Rum 30:54

اللَّهُ الَّذى خَلَقَكُم مِن ضَعفٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِن بَعدِ ضَعفٍ قُوَّةً ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِن بَعدِ قُوَّةٍ ضَعفًا وَشَيبَةً ۚ يَخلُقُ ما يَشاءُ ۖ وَهُوَ العَليمُ القَديرُ

The God is the One who created you from weakness, then gave strength after weakness, then weakness and gray hair after strength. He creates what He wills, and He is the Knowing, the Powerful.

Ar-Rum 30:55

وَيَومَ تَقومُ السّاعَةُ يُقسِمُ المُجرِمونَ ما لَبِثوا غَيرَ ساعَةٍ ۚ كَذٰلِكَ كانوا يُؤفَكونَ

On the day the Hour arises, the guilty will swear that they remained only an hour. Thus they used to be turned away.

Ar-Rum 30:56

وَقالَ الَّذينَ أوتُوا العِلمَ وَالإيمٰنَ لَقَد لَبِثتُم فى كِتٰبِ اللَّهِ إِلىٰ يَومِ البَعثِ ۖ فَهٰذا يَومُ البَعثِ وَلٰكِنَّكُم كُنتُم لا تَعلَمونَ

Those who have been given knowledge and faith will say: You remained, according to The God’s Book, until the Day of Resurrection. This is the Day of Resurrection, but you did not know.

Ar-Rum 30:57

فَيَومَئِذٍ لا يَنفَعُ الَّذينَ ظَلَموا مَعذِرَتُهُم وَلا هُم يُستَعتَبونَ

On that day, the excuse of those who did wrong will not benefit them, nor will they be asked to make amends.

Ar-Rum 30:58

وَلَقَد ضَرَبنا لِلنّاسِ فى هٰذَا القُرءانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍ ۚ وَلَئِن جِئتَهُم بِـٔايَةٍ لَيَقولَنَّ الَّذينَ كَفَروا إِن أَنتُم إِلّا مُبطِلونَ

We have set forth every kind of comparison for people in this Quran. If you bring them a sign, those who disbelieve will surely say: You are only promoters of falsehood.

Ar-Rum 30:59

كَذٰلِكَ يَطبَعُ اللَّهُ عَلىٰ قُلوبِ الَّذينَ لا يَعلَمونَ

Thus The God seals the hearts of those who do not know.

Ar-Rum 30:60

فَاصبِر إِنَّ وَعدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ ۖ وَلا يَستَخِفَّنَّكَ الَّذينَ لا يوقِنونَ

So be patient. The God’s promise is true, and do not let those who lack certainty unsettle you.
