·Muhammad·38 Verses

In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Muhammad 47:1

Those who disbelieved and barred the way of The God—He rendered their deeds lost.

Muhammad 47:2

ۙ

Those who believed, did good deeds, and believed in what was sent down to Muhammad—and it is the truth from their Lord—He removed their evil deeds and set their condition right.

Muhammad 47:3

ۚ

That is because those who disbelieved followed falsehood, while those who believed followed the truth from their Lord. Thus The God sets forth their examples for people.

Muhammad 47:4

ۚ ۗ

When you meet those who disbelieve, strike the necks; then, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind firmly. Thereafter, either release by grace or ransom, until war lays down its burdens. Thus it is. Had The God willed, He would have taken retribution from them, but it is to test some of you through others. Those killed in the way of The God—He will never let their deeds be lost.

Muhammad 47:5

He will guide them and set their condition right,

Muhammad 47:6

And admit them into the Garden He has made known to them.

Muhammad 47:7

You who believe, if you help The God, He will help you and make your feet firm.

Muhammad 47:8

As for those who disbelieved, ruin is theirs, and He rendered their deeds lost.

Muhammad 47:9

That is because they disliked what The God sent down, so He made their deeds fruitless.

Muhammad 47:10

ۚ ۖ

Have they not traveled through the earth to see how those before them ended? The God brought destruction upon them, and for the disbelievers is its like.

Muhammad 47:11

That is because The God is the protector of those who believe, while the disbelievers have no protector.

Muhammad 47:12

ۖ

The God will admit those who believe and do good deeds into gardens beneath which rivers flow. Those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as livestock eat, and the Fire is their dwelling.

Muhammad 47:13

How many a town was stronger than your town which drove you out! We destroyed them, and they had no helper.

Muhammad 47:14

Is one who stands upon clear proof from his Lord like those whose evil deeds have been made attractive to them and who follow their desires?

Muhammad 47:15

ۖ ۖ ۖ

The description of the Garden promised to the mindful: in it are rivers of water that does not grow stale, rivers of milk whose taste has not changed, rivers of wine delightful to drinkers, and rivers of purified honey. They have in it every kind of fruit and forgiveness from their Lord. Is this like those who remain in the Fire and are given scalding water to drink that tears their intestines?

Muhammad 47:16

ۚ

Among them are those who listen to you, until, when they leave you, they say to those given knowledge: What did he say just now? They are those whose hearts The God has sealed, and they have followed their desires.

Muhammad 47:17

Those who were guided—He increased them in guidance and gave them their mindfulness.

Muhammad 47:18

ۖ ۚ

Do they await anything but the Hour coming upon them suddenly? Its signs have already come. How, then, will their taking heed be of use when it comes upon them?

Muhammad 47:19

ۗ

Know that there is no god but The God, and seek forgiveness for your sin and for believing men and women. The God knows your movements and your resting place.

Muhammad 47:20

ۖ ۙ ۖ

Those who believe say: Why has a surah not been sent down? But when a firm surah is sent down and fighting is mentioned in it, you see those with sickness in their hearts looking at you like one overcome by death. So woe to them.

Muhammad 47:21

ۚ

Obedience and proper speech. Then, when the matter is resolved, being true to The God would be better for them.

Muhammad 47:22

Would you, then, if you turned away, spread corruption on earth and sever your ties of kinship?

Muhammad 47:23

They are those whom The God has cursed, making them deaf and blinding their eyes.

Muhammad 47:24

Do they not reflect upon the Quran, or are there locks upon hearts?

Muhammad 47:25

ۙ

Those who turned back after guidance had become clear to them—Satan enticed them and gave them respite.

Muhammad 47:26

ۖ

That is because they said to those who disliked what The God sent down: We will obey you in part of the matter. The God knows their secrets.

Muhammad 47:27

How, then, will it be when the angels take them, striking their faces and their backs?

Muhammad 47:28

That is because they followed what angered The God and disliked His pleasure, so He made their deeds fruitless.

Muhammad 47:29

Or do those with sickness in their hearts think The God will not bring out their grudges?

Muhammad 47:30

ۚ ۚ

If We will, We can show them to you, and you would recognize them by their marks. You will surely recognize them by the tone of their speech. The God knows your deeds.

Muhammad 47:31

We will surely test you until We know those among you who strive and those who are patient, and test your accounts.

Muhammad 47:32

Those who disbelieve, bar the way of The God, and oppose the messenger after guidance has become clear to them will not harm The God at all, and He will make their deeds fruitless.

Muhammad 47:33

You who believe, obey The God and obey the messenger, and do not nullify your deeds.

Muhammad 47:34

Those who disbelieved and barred the way of The God, then died as disbelievers—The God will never forgive them.

Muhammad 47:35

So do not weaken and call for peace while you have the upper hand. The God is with you and will not diminish your deeds.

Muhammad 47:36

ۚ

The worldly life is only play and amusement. If you believe and are mindful, He will give you your rewards and will not ask you for your wealth.

Muhammad 47:37

If He asked you for it and pressed you, you would be miserly, and He would bring out your grudges.

Muhammad 47:38

ۖ ۚ ۚ

Here you are, called to spend in the way of The God, yet some of you are miserly. Whoever is miserly is miserly only against himself. The God is free of need, while you are needy. If you turn away, He will replace you with another people, and they will not be like you.
