بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحيمِ

In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

An-Najm 53:1

وَالنَّجمِ إِذا هَوىٰ

By the star when it descends,

An-Najm 53:2

ما ضَلَّ صاحِبُكُم وَما غَوىٰ

Your companion has neither strayed nor gone astray.

An-Najm 53:3

وَما يَنطِقُ عَنِ الهَوىٰ

Nor does he speak from desire.

An-Najm 53:4

إِن هُوَ إِلّا وَحىٌ يوحىٰ

It is only a revelation being revealed.

An-Najm 53:5

عَلَّمَهُ شَديدُ القُوىٰ

One mighty in power taught him,

An-Najm 53:6

ذو مِرَّةٍ فَاستَوىٰ

Possessing firmness; then he stood upright,

An-Najm 53:7

وَهُوَ بِالأُفُقِ الأَعلىٰ

While he was on the higher horizon.

An-Najm 53:8

ثُمَّ دَنا فَتَدَلّىٰ

Then he drew near and descended,

An-Najm 53:9

فَكانَ قابَ قَوسَينِ أَو أَدنىٰ

And was at a distance of two bows or nearer.

An-Najm 53:10

فَأَوحىٰ إِلىٰ عَبدِهِ ما أَوحىٰ

Then he revealed to His servant what he revealed.

An-Najm 53:11

ما كَذَبَ الفُؤادُ ما رَأىٰ

The heart did not deny what it saw.

An-Najm 53:12

أَفَتُمٰرونَهُ عَلىٰ ما يَرىٰ

Do you dispute with him about what he sees?

An-Najm 53:13

وَلَقَد رَءاهُ نَزلَةً أُخرىٰ

He certainly saw him at another descent,

An-Najm 53:14

عِندَ سِدرَةِ المُنتَهىٰ

By the lote tree of the utmost boundary,

An-Najm 53:15

عِندَها جَنَّةُ المَأوىٰ

Near which is the garden of refuge,

An-Najm 53:16

إِذ يَغشَى السِّدرَةَ ما يَغشىٰ

When there covered the lote tree what covered it.

An-Najm 53:17

ما زاغَ البَصَرُ وَما طَغىٰ

The sight neither swerved nor overstepped.

An-Najm 53:18

لَقَد رَأىٰ مِن ءايٰتِ رَبِّهِ الكُبرىٰ

He certainly saw some of his Lord’s greatest signs.

An-Najm 53:19

أَفَرَءَيتُمُ اللّٰتَ وَالعُزّىٰ

Have you considered al-Lat and al-Uzza,

An-Najm 53:20

وَمَنوٰةَ الثّالِثَةَ الأُخرىٰ

And Manat, the other, the third?

An-Najm 53:21

أَلَكُمُ الذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ الأُنثىٰ

Is the male for you and the female for Him?

An-Najm 53:22

تِلكَ إِذًا قِسمَةٌ ضيزىٰ

That, then, is an unjust division.

An-Najm 53:23

إِن هِىَ إِلّا أَسماءٌ سَمَّيتُموها أَنتُم وَءاباؤُكُم ما أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ بِها مِن سُلطٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَما تَهوَى الأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَد جاءَهُم مِن رَبِّهِمُ الهُدىٰ

They are only names that you and your fathers have named; The God has sent down no authority for them. They follow only conjecture and what their souls desire, though guidance has come to them from their Lord.

An-Najm 53:24

أَم لِلإِنسٰنِ ما تَمَنّىٰ

Does the human being have whatever he wishes?

An-Najm 53:25

فَلِلَّهِ الـٔاخِرَةُ وَالأولىٰ

To The God belong the last and the first.

An-Najm 53:26

وَكَم مِن مَلَكٍ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ لا تُغنى شَفٰعَتُهُم شَيـًٔا إِلّا مِن بَعدِ أَن يَأذَنَ اللَّهُ لِمَن يَشاءُ وَيَرضىٰ

How many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession avails nothing, except after The God gives permission for whom He wills and approves.

An-Najm 53:27

إِنَّ الَّذينَ لا يُؤمِنونَ بِالـٔاخِرَةِ لَيُسَمّونَ المَلٰئِكَةَ تَسمِيَةَ الأُنثىٰ

Those who do not believe in the Hereafter name the angels with female names.

An-Najm 53:28

وَما لَهُم بِهِ مِن عِلمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ الظَّنَّ لا يُغنى مِنَ الحَقِّ شَيـًٔا

They have no knowledge of it. They follow only conjecture, and conjecture avails nothing against the truth.

An-Najm 53:29

فَأَعرِض عَن مَن تَوَلّىٰ عَن ذِكرِنا وَلَم يُرِد إِلَّا الحَيوٰةَ الدُّنيا

So turn away from whoever turns away from Our remembrance and desires only the worldly life.

An-Najm 53:30

ذٰلِكَ مَبلَغُهُم مِنَ العِلمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعلَمُ بِمَنِ اهتَدىٰ

That is the extent of their knowledge. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who is guided.

An-Najm 53:31

وَلِلَّهِ ما فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَما فِى الأَرضِ لِيَجزِىَ الَّذينَ أَسٰـٔوا بِما عَمِلوا وَيَجزِىَ الَّذينَ أَحسَنوا بِالحُسنَى

To The God belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, so that He may repay those who did evil for what they did, and repay those who did good with the best;

An-Najm 53:32

الَّذينَ يَجتَنِبونَ كَبٰئِرَ الإِثمِ وَالفَوٰحِشَ إِلَّا اللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وٰسِعُ المَغفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعلَمُ بِكُم إِذ أَنشَأَكُم مِنَ الأَرضِ وَإِذ أَنتُم أَجِنَّةٌ فى بُطونِ أُمَّهٰتِكُم ۖ فَلا تُزَكّوا أَنفُسَكُم ۖ هُوَ أَعلَمُ بِمَنِ اتَّقىٰ

Those who avoid major sins and indecencies, except minor lapses. Your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He knows you best, when He brought you forth from the earth and when you were embryos in your mothers’ wombs. So do not declare yourselves pure; He knows best who is mindful.

An-Najm 53:33

أَفَرَءَيتَ الَّذى تَوَلّىٰ

Have you seen the one who turned away,

An-Najm 53:34

وَأَعطىٰ قَليلًا وَأَكدىٰ

And gave a little, then withheld?

An-Najm 53:35

أَعِندَهُ عِلمُ الغَيبِ فَهُوَ يَرىٰ

Does he possess knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees?

An-Najm 53:36

أَم لَم يُنَبَّأ بِما فى صُحُفِ موسىٰ

Or has he not been informed of what is in the scrolls of Moses,

An-Najm 53:37

وَإِبرٰهيمَ الَّذى وَفّىٰ

And Abraham, who fulfilled fully?

An-Najm 53:38

أَلّا تَزِرُ وازِرَةٌ وِزرَ أُخرىٰ

That no bearer bears another’s burden,

An-Najm 53:39

وَأَن لَيسَ لِلإِنسٰنِ إِلّا ما سَعىٰ

And that the human being has only what he has striven for,

An-Najm 53:40

وَأَنَّ سَعيَهُ سَوفَ يُرىٰ

And that his striving will be seen,

An-Najm 53:41

ثُمَّ يُجزىٰهُ الجَزاءَ الأَوفىٰ

Then he will be repaid with the fullest recompense,

An-Najm 53:42

وَأَنَّ إِلىٰ رَبِّكَ المُنتَهىٰ

And that to your Lord is the final destination,

An-Najm 53:43

وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَضحَكَ وَأَبكىٰ

And that it is He who makes laugh and makes weep,

An-Najm 53:44

وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَماتَ وَأَحيا

And that it is He who causes death and gives life,

An-Najm 53:45

وَأَنَّهُ خَلَقَ الزَّوجَينِ الذَّكَرَ وَالأُنثىٰ

And that He created the two mates, the male and the female,

An-Najm 53:46

مِن نُطفَةٍ إِذا تُمنىٰ

From a drop when it is emitted,

An-Najm 53:47

وَأَنَّ عَلَيهِ النَّشأَةَ الأُخرىٰ

And that upon Him is the other bringing forth,

An-Najm 53:48

وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَغنىٰ وَأَقنىٰ

And that it is He who enriches and grants possessions,

An-Najm 53:49

وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ رَبُّ الشِّعرىٰ

And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius,

An-Najm 53:50

وَأَنَّهُ أَهلَكَ عادًا الأولىٰ

And that He destroyed the former Ad,

An-Najm 53:51

وَثَمودَا۟ فَما أَبقىٰ

And Thamud, sparing none,

An-Najm 53:52

وَقَومَ نوحٍ مِن قَبلُ ۖ إِنَّهُم كانوا هُم أَظلَمَ وَأَطغىٰ

And the people of Noah before; they were more unjust and more transgressing,

An-Najm 53:53

وَالمُؤتَفِكَةَ أَهوىٰ

And He hurled down the overturned,

An-Najm 53:54

فَغَشّىٰها ما غَشّىٰ

Then there covered it what covered it.

An-Najm 53:55

فَبِأَىِّ ءالاءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمارىٰ

Then which of your Lord’s favors do you doubt?

An-Najm 53:56

هٰذا نَذيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الأولىٰ

This is a warner from the former warners.

An-Najm 53:57

أَزِفَتِ الـٔازِفَةُ

The approaching one has drawn near;

An-Najm 53:58

لَيسَ لَها مِن دونِ اللَّهِ كاشِفَةٌ

None besides The God can remove it.

An-Najm 53:59

أَفَمِن هٰذَا الحَديثِ تَعجَبونَ

Do you marvel at this discourse,

An-Najm 53:60

وَتَضحَكونَ وَلا تَبكونَ

And laugh and do not weep,

An-Najm 53:61

وَأَنتُم سٰمِدونَ

While you are heedlessly distracted?

An-Najm 53:62

فَاسجُدوا لِلَّهِ وَاعبُدوا ۩

So prostrate to The God and worship.
