Al-Waqiah 56:1

When the Event occurs,

Al-Waqiah 56:2

there will be no denying its occurrence.

Al-Waqiah 56:3

It brings down and raises up.

Al-Waqiah 56:4

When the earth is shaken violently,

Al-Waqiah 56:5

and the mountains are thoroughly crushed,

Al-Waqiah 56:6

becoming scattered dust,

Al-Waqiah 56:7

and you become three groups:

Al-Waqiah 56:8

the people of the right—what people of the right!

Al-Waqiah 56:9

And the people of the left—what people of the left!

Al-Waqiah 56:10

And the foremost are the foremost;

Al-Waqiah 56:11

they are those brought near,

Al-Waqiah 56:12

in gardens of delight.

Al-Waqiah 56:13

a multitude from the earlier ones,

Al-Waqiah 56:14

and a few from the later ones,

Al-Waqiah 56:15

upon woven couches,

Al-Waqiah 56:16

reclining on them, facing one another.

Al-Waqiah 56:17

Everlasting youths circulate among them,

Al-Waqiah 56:18

with cups, pitchers, and a goblet from a flowing spring;

Al-Waqiah 56:19

it gives them neither headache nor loss of reason,

Al-Waqiah 56:20

and fruit of whatever they choose,

Al-Waqiah 56:21

and the meat of birds they desire,

Al-Waqiah 56:22

and fair ones with wide, beautiful eyes,

Al-Waqiah 56:23

like sheltered pearls,

Al-Waqiah 56:24

a recompense for what they used to do.

Al-Waqiah 56:25

There they hear neither idle talk nor sinful speech,

Al-Waqiah 56:26

only the saying, “Peace, peace.”

Al-Waqiah 56:27

And the people of the right—what people of the right!

Al-Waqiah 56:28

amid thornless lote trees,

Al-Waqiah 56:29

and banana trees with clustered fruit,

Al-Waqiah 56:30

and extended shade,

Al-Waqiah 56:31

and flowing water,

Al-Waqiah 56:32

and abundant fruit,

Al-Waqiah 56:33

neither ceasing nor withheld,

Al-Waqiah 56:34

and raised couches.

Al-Waqiah 56:35

We brought them into being in a new creation,

Al-Waqiah 56:36

and made them virgins,

Al-Waqiah 56:37

affectionate and equal in age,

Al-Waqiah 56:38

for the people of the right.

Al-Waqiah 56:39

a multitude from the earlier ones,

Al-Waqiah 56:40

and a multitude from the later ones.

Al-Waqiah 56:41

And the people of the left—what people of the left!

Al-Waqiah 56:42

in scorching wind and boiling water,

Al-Waqiah 56:43

and a shade of black smoke,

Al-Waqiah 56:44

neither cool nor pleasant.

Al-Waqiah 56:45

Before this, they lived in luxury,

Al-Waqiah 56:46

and persisted in the great sin,

Al-Waqiah 56:47

and would say, “When we have died and become dust and bones, shall we really be raised?

Al-Waqiah 56:48

And our earliest forefathers too?”

Al-Waqiah 56:49

Say, “The earlier and the later ones

Al-Waqiah 56:50

will all be gathered at the appointed time of a known day.

Al-Waqiah 56:51

Then you, O misguided deniers,

Al-Waqiah 56:52

will eat from the tree of Zaqqum,

Al-Waqiah 56:53

filling your bellies with it,

Al-Waqiah 56:54

and drink boiling water after it,

Al-Waqiah 56:55

drinking as desperately thirsty camels drink.”

Al-Waqiah 56:56

This is their hospitality on the Day of Recompense.

Al-Waqiah 56:57

We created you; why, then, do you not affirm the truth?

Al-Waqiah 56:58

Have you considered what you emit?

Al-Waqiah 56:59

Do you create it, or are We the creator?

Al-Waqiah 56:60

We have apportioned death among you, and We cannot be thwarted

Al-Waqiah 56:61

in replacing you with your likes and bringing you into being in what you do not know.

Al-Waqiah 56:62

You have known the first creation; why, then, do you not take heed?

Al-Waqiah 56:63

Have you considered what you sow?

Al-Waqiah 56:64

Do you make it grow, or are We the grower?

Al-Waqiah 56:65

If We wished, We would make it broken straw, and you would remain astonished:

Al-Waqiah 56:66

“We are indeed burdened with loss;

Al-Waqiah 56:67

rather, we have been deprived.”

Al-Waqiah 56:68

Have you considered the water you drink?

Al-Waqiah 56:69

Did you send it down from the clouds, or are We the sender?

Al-Waqiah 56:70

If We wished, We would make it bitter and salty. Why, then, do you not give thanks?

Al-Waqiah 56:71

Have you considered the fire you kindle?

Al-Waqiah 56:72

Did you bring its tree into being, or are We the originator?

Al-Waqiah 56:73

We made it a reminder and a provision for desert travelers.

Al-Waqiah 56:74

So glorify the name of your Lord, the Magnificent.

Al-Waqiah 56:75

So I swear by the positions of the stars,

Al-Waqiah 56:76

and it is a mighty oath, if you knew,

Al-Waqiah 56:77

that this is a noble Quran,

Al-Waqiah 56:78

in a guarded book,

Al-Waqiah 56:79

touched only by the purified;

Al-Waqiah 56:80

a sending down from the Lord of all worlds.

Al-Waqiah 56:81

Do you, then, treat this discourse lightly?

Al-Waqiah 56:82

And do you make denial your portion?

Al-Waqiah 56:83

Then why, when it reaches the throat,

Al-Waqiah 56:84

while you look on at that moment,

Al-Waqiah 56:85

and We are nearer to him than you, though you do not see,

Al-Waqiah 56:86

why, if you are not subject to judgment,

Al-Waqiah 56:87

do you not bring it back, if you are truthful?

Al-Waqiah 56:88

Then, if he is among those brought near,

Al-Waqiah 56:89

there are comfort, fragrance, and a garden of delight.

Al-Waqiah 56:90

And if he is among the people of the right,

Al-Waqiah 56:91

then peace to you from the people of the right.

Al-Waqiah 56:92

But if he is among the misguided deniers,

Al-Waqiah 56:93

there is hospitality of boiling water,

Al-Waqiah 56:94

and burning in a blazing fire.

Al-Waqiah 56:95

Indeed, this is the truth of certainty.

Al-Waqiah 56:96

So glorify the name of your Lord, the Magnificent.
