In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
An-Nisa 4:1
ۚ ۚ
O people, be mindful of your Lord, who created you from a single soul, created its mate from it, and spread from the two many men and women. Be mindful of The God, through whom you ask one another, and of kinship ties. Indeed, The God watches over you.
An-Nisa 4:2
ۖ ۖ ۚ
Give the orphans their wealth. Do not exchange the impure for the pure, and do not consume their wealth along with your own. That is indeed a great sin.
An-Nisa 4:3
ۖ ۚ
If you fear that you will not deal equitably with the orphans, marry women who are pleasing to you: two, three, and four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then one, or what your right hands possess. That is nearer to your not acting unjustly.
An-Nisa 4:4
ۚ
Give women their bridal dues as a gift. If they willingly relinquish any of it to you, then consume it with enjoyment and ease.
An-Nisa 4:5
Do not give the imprudent your wealth, which The God has made a means of support for you. Provide for them from it, clothe them, and speak to them in a fitting manner.
An-Nisa 4:6
ۖ ۚ ۖ ۚ ۚ
Test the orphans until they reach marriageable age. If you discern sound judgment in them, hand over their wealth to them. Do not consume it extravagantly and hastily before they grow up. Whoever is wealthy should refrain, and whoever is poor may consume in a fitting manner. When you hand over their wealth to them, call witnesses over them. The God is sufficient as a reckoner.
An-Nisa 4:7
ۚ
For men is a share of what parents and close relatives leave, and for women is a share of what parents and close relatives leave, whether little or much: an allotted share.
An-Nisa 4:8
When relatives, orphans, and the needy are present at the division, provide for them from it and speak to them in a fitting manner.
An-Nisa 4:9
Let those be apprehensive who, if they left weak offspring behind them, would fear for them. Let them be mindful of The God and speak sound words.
An-Nisa 4:10
ۖ
Those who consume the wealth of orphans unjustly consume only fire into their bellies, and they will burn in a blaze.
An-Nisa 4:11
ۖ ۚ ۖ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۗ ۚ ۗ
The God instructs you concerning your children: for the male is the equivalent of the share of two females. If they are females numbering more than two, theirs is two-thirds of what he leaves; if there is one, hers is half. For his parents, each of the two has one-sixth of what he leaves if he has a child. If he has no child and his parents inherit from him, his mother has one-third. If he has siblings, his mother has one-sixth, after any bequest he makes or debt. Your fathers and your sons—you do not know which of them are nearer to you in benefit. This is an obligation from The God. Indeed, The God is knowing, wise.
An-Nisa 4:12
ۚ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۗ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۗ
Yours is half of what your wives leave if they have no child. If they have a child, yours is one-quarter of what they leave, after any bequest they make or debt. Theirs is one-quarter of what you leave if you have no child. If you have a child, theirs is one-eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you make or debt. If a man or woman being inherited from is kalalah, and has a brother or sister, each of the two has one-sixth. If they are more than that, they share one-third, after any bequest made or debt, without causing harm: an instruction from The God. The God is knowing, forbearing.
An-Nisa 4:13
ۚ ۚ
These are the bounds of The God. Whoever obeys The God and His messenger, He will admit him into gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein. That is the great triumph.
An-Nisa 4:14
Whoever disobeys The God and His messenger and oversteps His bounds, He will admit him into a fire, abiding therein; and his is a humiliating punishment.
An-Nisa 4:15
ۖ
For those of your women who commit indecency, call four witnesses from among you against them. If they testify, confine them to the houses until death takes them or The God makes a way for them.
An-Nisa 4:16
ۖ ۗ
The two among you who commit it, cause them hurt. If they repent and make amends, then leave them alone. Indeed, The God is ever accepting of repentance, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:17
ۗ
Acceptance of repentance is incumbent upon The God only for those who do evil in ignorance and then repent soon afterward. Those are the ones to whom The God turns. The God is knowing, wise.
An-Nisa 4:18
ۚ
Repentance is not for those who do evil deeds until, when death comes to one of them, he says, “Now I repent,” nor for those who die as disbelievers. For those We have prepared a painful punishment.
An-Nisa 4:19
ۖ ۚ ۚ
O you who believe, it is not lawful for you to inherit women against their will. Do not constrain them to take away some of what you have given them, unless they commit a clear indecency. Live with them in a fitting manner. If you dislike them, it may be that you dislike something in which The God places much good.
An-Nisa 4:20
ۚ
If you wish to replace one spouse with another, and you have given one of them a great sum, do not take anything from it. Would you take it through slander and manifest sin?
An-Nisa 4:21
How could you take it when you have been intimate with one another and they have taken a solemn covenant from you?
An-Nisa 4:22
ۚ
Do not marry women whom your fathers married, except what has already passed. Indeed, it is an indecency, a hateful thing, and an evil way.
An-Nisa 4:23
ۗ
Forbidden to you are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your paternal aunts, your maternal aunts, brothers’ daughters, sisters’ daughters, your mothers who nursed you, your milk-sisters, your wives’ mothers, and your stepdaughters in your care from wives with whom you have consummated marriage—but if you have not consummated marriage with them, there is no blame upon you—and the wives of your sons from your own loins, and combining two sisters, except what has already passed. Indeed, The God is forgiving, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:24
ۖ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۚ
And married women, except what your right hands possess. This is The God’s decree upon you. Lawful to you is what lies beyond these, that you seek with your wealth, being chaste and not fornicating. For what you enjoy from them, give them their dues as an obligation. There is no blame upon you in what you mutually agree upon after the obligation. Indeed, The God is knowing, wise.
An-Nisa 4:25
ۚ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۗ
Whoever among you lacks the means to marry free believing women, then from your believing girls whom your right hands possess. The God knows your faith best; you are of one another. Marry them with their families’ permission and give them their dues in a fitting manner, being chaste, neither fornicating nor taking secret lovers. Once they are married, if they commit indecency, they incur half the punishment of free women. This is for whoever among you fears hardship; but to be patient is better for you. The God is forgiving, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:26
ۗ
The God wishes to make clear to you, guide you to the ways of those before you, and turn to you. The God is knowing, wise.
An-Nisa 4:27
The God wishes to turn to you, while those who follow desires wish you to deviate greatly.
An-Nisa 4:28
ۚ
The God wishes to lighten your burden; and the human being was created weak.
An-Nisa 4:29
ۚ ۚ
O you who believe, do not consume your wealth among yourselves wrongfully, except through trade by mutual consent. Do not kill yourselves. Indeed, The God is merciful to you.
An-Nisa 4:30
ۚ
Whoever does that in aggression and injustice, We will make him burn in a fire. That is easy for The God.
An-Nisa 4:31
If you avoid the major sins of what you are forbidden, We will remove your misdeeds from you and admit you through an honorable entrance.
An-Nisa 4:32
ۚ ۖ ۚ ۗ
Do not wish for that by which The God has favored some of you over others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. Ask The God of His bounty. Indeed, The God knows all things.
An-Nisa 4:33
ۚ ۚ
For each We have appointed heirs to what parents and close relatives leave. As for those with whom your right hands have made a pledge, give them their share. Indeed, The God is witness over all things.
An-Nisa 4:34
ۚ ۚ ۖ ۗ
Men are maintainers of women by what The God has favored some of them over others and by what they have spent of their wealth. Thus righteous women are devout, guarding the unseen by what The God has guarded. Those whose defiance you fear, admonish them, abandon them in beds, and strike them. If they obey you, seek no way against them. Indeed, The God is exalted, great.
An-Nisa 4:35
ۗ
If you fear a breach between the two, send an arbiter from his family and an arbiter from hers. If they wish for reconciliation, The God will bring harmony between them. Indeed, The God is knowing, aware.
An-Nisa 4:36
ۖ ۗ
Worship The God and associate nothing with Him. Show kindness to parents, relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the distant neighbor, the companion at your side, the traveler, and what your right hands possess. Indeed, The God does not love anyone who is conceited and boastful.
An-Nisa 4:37
ۗ
Those who are miserly, command people to be miserly, and conceal what The God has given them of His bounty. We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment.
An-Nisa 4:38
ۗ
And those who spend their wealth to be seen by people and do not believe in The God or the Last Day. Whoever has Satan as a companion—what an evil companion!
An-Nisa 4:39
ۚ
What would it cost them to believe in The God and the Last Day and spend from what The God has provided them? The God knows them.
An-Nisa 4:40
ۖ
Indeed, The God does not wrong anyone by the weight of a speck. If there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives a great reward from Himself.
An-Nisa 4:41
How will it be when We bring a witness from every community and bring you as a witness against these?
An-Nisa 4:42
On that day, those who disbelieved and disobeyed the messenger will wish that the earth were leveled over them. They will conceal no statement from The God.
An-Nisa 4:43
ۚ ۗ
O you who believe, do not approach prayer while intoxicated until you know what you are saying, nor in a state of major impurity, except when passing through, until you wash. If you are ill or on a journey, or one of you comes from relieving himself, or you have touched women and find no water, then seek clean earth and wipe your faces and hands. Indeed, The God is pardoning, forgiving.
An-Nisa 4:44
Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Book? They purchase misguidance and wish you to lose the way.
An-Nisa 4:45
ۚ
The God knows your enemies best. The God is sufficient as a guardian, and The God is sufficient as a helper.
An-Nisa 4:46
ۚ
Among those who became Jews are some who distort words from their places and say, “We hear and disobey,” “Hear, may you not be made to hear,” and “Attend to us,” twisting their tongues and attacking the religion. Had they said, “We hear and obey,” “Hear,” and “Look toward us,” it would have been better and more upright for them. But The God has cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe but little.
An-Nisa 4:47
ۚ
O you who were given the Book, believe in what We have sent down, confirming what is with you, before We efface faces and turn them backward, or curse them as We cursed the people of the Sabbath. The God’s command is carried out.
An-Nisa 4:48
ۚ
Indeed, The God does not forgive associating partners with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. Whoever associates partners with The God has fabricated a great sin.
An-Nisa 4:49
ۚ
Have you not seen those who declare themselves pure? Rather, The God purifies whom He wills, and they will not be wronged by so much as a thread.
An-Nisa 4:50
ۖ
Look how they fabricate lies against The God. That is sufficient as a manifest sin.
An-Nisa 4:51
Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Book? They believe in jibt and taghut and say of those who disbelieve, “These are better guided in their way than those who believe.”
An-Nisa 4:52
ۖ
Those are the ones The God has cursed. Whoever The God curses, you will never find a helper for him.
An-Nisa 4:53
Or do they have a share in dominion? Then they would not give people so much as the groove of a date stone.
An-Nisa 4:54
ۖ
Or do they envy people for what The God has given them of His bounty? We gave the family of Abraham the Book and wisdom, and We gave them a great dominion.
An-Nisa 4:55
ۚ
Among them were those who believed in it and those who turned away from it. Hell is sufficient as a blaze.
An-Nisa 4:56
ۗ
Those who disbelieve in Our signs, We will make them burn in a fire. Whenever their skins are burned through, We will replace them with other skins so that they may taste the punishment. Indeed, The God is mighty, wise.
An-Nisa 4:57
ۖ ۖ
Those who believe and do righteous deeds, We will admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein forever. They have purified spouses there, and We will admit them into deep shade.
An-Nisa 4:58
ۚ ۗ
Indeed, The God commands you to return trusts to their owners and, when you judge between people, to judge with justice. How excellent is that with which The God admonishes you. Indeed, The God is hearing, seeing.
An-Nisa 4:59
ۖ ۚ
O you who believe, obey The God and obey the messenger and those in authority among you. If you dispute over anything, refer it to The God and the messenger, if you believe in The God and the Last Day. That is better and best in outcome.
An-Nisa 4:60
Have you not seen those who claim to believe in what was sent down to you and what was sent down before you? They wish to seek judgment from taghut, though they were commanded to reject it. Satan wishes to lead them far astray.
An-Nisa 4:61
When they are told, “Come to what The God has sent down and to the messenger,” you see the hypocrites turning firmly away from you.
An-Nisa 4:62
How will it be when a calamity strikes them for what their hands have sent ahead, then they come to you swearing by The God, “We intended only kindness and reconciliation”?
An-Nisa 4:63
Those are the ones whose hearts The God knows. Turn away from them, admonish them, and speak to them about themselves with penetrating words.
An-Nisa 4:64
ۚ
We sent no messenger except to be obeyed by The God’s permission. Had they, when they wronged themselves, come to you and sought The God’s forgiveness, and the messenger sought forgiveness for them, they would have found The God ever accepting of repentance, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:65
But no, by your Lord, they do not believe until they make you judge in what has arisen between them, then find no discomfort within themselves concerning what you have decided and submit fully.
An-Nisa 4:66
ۖ
Had We prescribed for them, “Kill yourselves,” or “Leave your homes,” they would not have done it except for a few of them. Had they done what they were admonished to do, it would have been better for them and more firmly establishing.
An-Nisa 4:67
Then We would have given them a great reward from Ourselves.
An-Nisa 4:68
And We would have guided them to a straight path.
An-Nisa 4:69
ۚ
Whoever obeys The God and the messenger, those will be with the ones The God has favored: the prophets, the truthful, the witnesses, and the righteous. How excellent those are as companions!
An-Nisa 4:70
ۚ
That bounty is from The God. The God is sufficient as a knower.
An-Nisa 4:71
O you who believe, take your precautions, then go forth in groups or go forth all together.
An-Nisa 4:72
Among you is one who surely holds back. If a calamity strikes you, he says, “The God has favored me, since I was not present with them.”
An-Nisa 4:73
If bounty from The God reaches you, he will surely say—as though there were no affection between you and him—“If only I had been with them, I would have attained a great triumph.”
An-Nisa 4:74
ۚ
Let those who sell the worldly life for the Hereafter fight in the way of The God. Whoever fights in the way of The God and is killed or prevails, We will give him a great reward.
An-Nisa 4:75
What is wrong with you that you do not fight in the way of The God and for the oppressed men, women, and children who say, “Our Lord, bring us out of this town whose people are unjust. Appoint for us a guardian from Yourself, and appoint for us a helper from Yourself”?
An-Nisa 4:76
ۖ ۖ
Those who believe fight in the way of The God, and those who disbelieve fight in the way of taghut. So fight the allies of Satan; indeed, Satan’s scheme is weak.
An-Nisa 4:77
ۚ ۗ
Have you not seen those who were told, “Restrain your hands, establish prayer, and give zakat”? When fighting was prescribed for them, a group of them feared people as they feared The God, or with greater fear. They said, “Our Lord, why have You prescribed fighting for us? Why did You not delay us until a near term?” Say, “The enjoyment of this world is little, and the Hereafter is better for whoever is mindful; you will not be wronged by so much as a thread.”
An-Nisa 4:78
ۗ ۖ ۚ ۖ
Wherever you are, death will overtake you, even if you are in fortified towers. If good befalls them, they say, “This is from The God”; if evil befalls them, they say, “This is from you.” Say, “All is from The God.” What is wrong with these people that they scarcely understand a statement?
An-Nisa 4:79
ۖ ۚ ۚ
Whatever good befalls you is from The God, and whatever evil befalls you is from yourself. We have sent you to people as a messenger. The God is sufficient as a witness.
An-Nisa 4:80
ۖ
Whoever obeys the messenger has obeyed The God. As for whoever turns away, We have not sent you as a keeper over them.
An-Nisa 4:81
ۖ ۖ ۚ
They say, “Obedience.” But when they leave you, a group of them plans by night something other than what you say. The God records what they plan by night. Turn away from them and put your trust in The God. The God is sufficient as a trustee.
An-Nisa 4:82
ۚ
Do they not reflect upon the Quran? Had it been from anyone other than The God, they would have found much inconsistency in it.
An-Nisa 4:83
ۖ ۗ
When a matter of security or fear comes to them, they broadcast it. Had they referred it to the messenger and to those in authority among them, those among them who draw conclusions from it would have known it. Were it not for The God’s bounty and mercy upon you, you would have followed Satan, except for a few.
An-Nisa 4:84
ۚ ۖ ۚ
Fight in the way of The God; you are responsible only for yourself. Urge the believers on. It may be that The God will restrain the might of those who disbelieve. The God is greater in might and more severe in exemplary punishment.
An-Nisa 4:85
ۖ ۗ
Whoever makes a good intercession has a share of it, and whoever makes an evil intercession has a portion of it. The God is a sustainer over all things.
An-Nisa 4:86
ۗ
When you are greeted with a greeting, greet with one better than it or return it. Indeed, The God is reckoner over all things.
An-Nisa 4:87
ۚ ۗ
The God—there is no god but Him. He will surely gather you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. Who is more truthful than The God in statement?
An-Nisa 4:88
ۚ ۖ
Why are you two groups concerning the hypocrites, when The God has cast them back for what they earned? Do you wish to guide those whom The God has led astray? Whoever The God leads astray, you will never find a way for him.
An-Nisa 4:89
ۖ ۚ ۖ
They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved, so that you would be alike. Do not take guardians from among them until they migrate in the way of The God. If they turn away, seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take neither a guardian nor a helper from among them.
An-Nisa 4:90
ۚ ۚ
Except those who join a people with whom you have a treaty, or come to you with hearts constrained against fighting you or fighting their own people. Had The God willed, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you. If they withdraw from you, do not fight you, and offer you peace, The God has made no way for you against them.
An-Nisa 4:91
ۚ ۚ
You will find others who wish to be safe from you and safe from their own people. Whenever they are returned to turmoil, they are plunged back into it. If they do not withdraw from you, offer you peace, and restrain their hands, seize them and kill them wherever you encounter them. Against those We have given you clear authority.
An-Nisa 4:92
ۚ ۚ ۖ ۖ ۗ
It is not for a believer to kill a believer except by mistake. Whoever kills a believer by mistake must free a believing slave and deliver compensation to his family, unless they waive it as charity. If he belonged to a people hostile to you and was a believer, then the freeing of a believing slave. If he belonged to a people with whom you have a treaty, then compensation delivered to his family and the freeing of a believing slave. Whoever cannot find the means must fast two consecutive months, as repentance from The God. The God is knowing, wise.
An-Nisa 4:93
Whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, abiding therein. The God is angry with him, has cursed him, and has prepared a great punishment for him.
An-Nisa 4:94
ۚ ۚ
O you who believe, when you go forth in the way of The God, ascertain matters. Do not say to one who offers you peace, “You are not a believer,” seeking the goods of worldly life; with The God are abundant gains. You were like that before, then The God favored you. So ascertain matters. Indeed, The God is aware of what you do.
An-Nisa 4:95
ۚ ۚ ۚ
Those believers who remain seated, other than those with disabilities, are not equal to those who strive in the way of The God with their wealth and lives. The God has favored those who strive with their wealth and lives above those who remain seated by a degree. To each The God has promised the best. The God has favored those who strive above those who remain seated with a great reward.
An-Nisa 4:96
ۚ
Degrees from Him, forgiveness, and mercy. The God is forgiving, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:97
ۖ ۚ ۚ ۖ
Those whom the angels take while they are wronging themselves, they ask, “In what condition were you?” They say, “We were oppressed in the land.” They ask, “Was The God’s earth not spacious enough for you to migrate in it?” Those have Hell as their refuge—an evil destination.
An-Nisa 4:98
Except the oppressed men, women, and children who can devise no means and find no way.
An-Nisa 4:99
ۚ
Those, it may be that The God will pardon them. The God is pardoning, forgiving.
An-Nisa 4:100
ۚ ۗ
Whoever migrates in the way of The God will find many places of refuge and abundance in the earth. Whoever leaves his home migrating toward The God and His messenger, then death overtakes him, his reward has become incumbent upon The God. The God is forgiving, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:101
ۚ
When you travel through the land, there is no blame upon you for shortening prayer if you fear that those who disbelieve may afflict you. Indeed, the disbelievers are a manifest enemy to you.
An-Nisa 4:102
ۗ ۚ ۖ ۗ
When you are among them and establish prayer for them, let a group of them stand with you and take their weapons. When they have prostrated, let them be behind you, and let another group who have not prayed come and pray with you, taking their precautions and weapons. Those who disbelieve wish you would neglect your weapons and belongings so they could attack you in a single assault. There is no blame upon you for laying down your weapons if you are troubled by rain or are ill, but take your precautions. Indeed, The God has prepared a humiliating punishment for the disbelievers.
An-Nisa 4:103
ۚ ۚ
When you have completed prayer, remember The God standing, sitting, and on your sides. When you are secure, establish prayer. Indeed, prayer is an obligation upon the believers at appointed times.
An-Nisa 4:104
ۖ ۖ ۗ
Do not weaken in pursuing the people. If you suffer pain, they suffer pain as you do, while you hope from The God for what they do not hope for. The God is knowing, wise.
An-Nisa 4:105
ۚ
We have sent down the Book to you in truth so that you may judge between people by what The God has shown you. Do not be an advocate for the treacherous.
An-Nisa 4:106
ۖ
Seek The God’s forgiveness. Indeed, The God is forgiving, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:107
ۚ
Do not argue on behalf of those who betray themselves. Indeed, The God does not love anyone who is persistently treacherous and sinful.
An-Nisa 4:108
ۚ
They hide from people but do not hide from The God, while He is with them when they plan by night words He does not approve. The God encompasses what they do.
An-Nisa 4:109
Here you are, arguing on their behalf in worldly life. Who will argue with The God on their behalf on the Day of Resurrection, or who will be their trustee?
An-Nisa 4:110
Whoever does evil or wrongs himself, then seeks The God’s forgiveness, will find The God forgiving, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:111
ۚ
Whoever earns a sin earns it only against himself. The God is knowing, wise.
An-Nisa 4:112
Whoever earns an offense or a sin, then casts it upon an innocent person, has borne a slander and a manifest sin.
An-Nisa 4:113
ۖ ۚ ۚ
Were it not for The God’s bounty and mercy upon you, a group of them would have intended to mislead you. They mislead only themselves and do not harm you at all. The God has sent down the Book and wisdom to you and taught you what you did not know. The God’s bounty upon you is great.
An-Nisa 4:114
ۚ
There is no good in much of their private talk, except for one who calls for charity, a fitting act, or reconciliation between people. Whoever does that seeking The God’s pleasure, We will give him a great reward.
An-Nisa 4:115
ۖ
Whoever opposes the messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows a way other than the believers’ way, We will turn him toward what he has turned to and make him burn in Hell—an evil destination.
An-Nisa 4:116
ۚ
Indeed, The God does not forgive associating partners with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. Whoever associates partners with The God has strayed far astray.
An-Nisa 4:117
They invoke only females besides Him, and they invoke only a rebellious Satan.
An-Nisa 4:118
ۘ
The God cursed him. He said, “I will surely take an allotted share of Your servants.
An-Nisa 4:119
ۚ
I will surely mislead them, fill them with wishes, command them so they slit the ears of livestock, and command them so they alter The God’s creation.” Whoever takes Satan as a guardian instead of The God has suffered a manifest loss.
An-Nisa 4:120
ۖ
He promises them and fills them with wishes. Satan promises them nothing but delusion.
An-Nisa 4:121
Those have Hell as their refuge and will find no escape from it.
An-Nisa 4:122
ۖ ۚ
Those who believe and do righteous deeds, We will admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein forever. The God’s promise is true. Who is more truthful than The God in speech?
An-Nisa 4:123
ۗ
It is not according to your wishes or the wishes of the People of the Book. Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it and will find for himself neither a guardian nor a helper besides The God.
An-Nisa 4:124
Whoever does righteous deeds, male or female, while believing, those will enter the Garden and will not be wronged by so much as the groove of a date stone.
An-Nisa 4:125
ۗ
Who is better in religion than one who submits his face to The God while doing good and follows the creed of Abraham, inclining to truth? The God took Abraham as a close friend.
An-Nisa 4:126
ۚ
To The God belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. The God encompasses all things.
An-Nisa 4:127
ۖ ۚ
They ask you for a ruling concerning women. Say, “The God gives you a ruling concerning them, and what is recited to you in the Book concerning orphaned women to whom you do not give what is prescribed for them and whom you wish to marry, and the oppressed children, and that you uphold equity for orphans.” Whatever good you do, indeed, The God knows it.
An-Nisa 4:128
ۚ ۗ ۚ
If a woman fears defiance or aversion from her husband, there is no blame upon the two if they reach a settlement between themselves; settlement is better. Souls are attended by avarice. If you do good and are mindful, indeed, The God is aware of what you do.
An-Nisa 4:129
ۖ ۚ
You will never be able to be equitable between women, however eager you may be. So do not incline entirely to one side, leaving her as though suspended. If you make amends and are mindful, indeed, The God is forgiving, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:130
ۚ
If the two separate, The God will enrich each from His abundance. The God is all-encompassing, wise.
An-Nisa 4:131
ۗ ۚ ۚ
To The God belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. We instructed those who were given the Book before you, and you, to be mindful of The God. If you disbelieve, then to The God belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. The God is self-sufficient, praiseworthy.
An-Nisa 4:132
ۚ
To The God belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. The God is sufficient as a trustee.
An-Nisa 4:133
ۚ
If He wills, He can remove you, O people, and bring others. The God is capable of that.
An-Nisa 4:134
ۚ
Whoever desires the reward of this world, with The God is the reward of this world and the Hereafter. The God is hearing, seeing.
An-Nisa 4:135
ۚ ۖ ۚ
O you who believe, be upholders of equity, witnesses for The God, even against yourselves, parents, or close relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, The God has a greater claim over both. Do not follow desire, lest you deviate from justice. If you distort or turn away, indeed, The God is aware of what you do.
An-Nisa 4:136
ۚ
O you who believe, believe in The God, His messenger, the Book He sent down to His messenger, and the Book He sent down before. Whoever disbelieves in The God, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has strayed far astray.
An-Nisa 4:137
Those who believed, then disbelieved, then believed, then disbelieved, then increased in disbelief—The God will neither forgive them nor guide them to a way.
An-Nisa 4:138
Give the hypocrites news that theirs is a painful punishment.
An-Nisa 4:139
ۚ
Those who take disbelievers as guardians instead of believers—do they seek might with them? Indeed, all might belongs to The God.
An-Nisa 4:140
ۚ ۗ
He has sent down to you in the Book that when you hear The God’s signs being disbelieved in and mocked, do not sit with them until they engage in another conversation; otherwise you are like them. Indeed, The God will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers all together in Hell.
An-Nisa 4:141
ۚ ۗ
Those who wait to see what happens to you: if you have a victory from The God, they say, “Were we not with you?” If the disbelievers have a share, they say, “Did we not have the upper hand over you and protect you from the believers?” The God will judge between you on the Day of Resurrection. The God will never grant the disbelievers a way over the believers.
An-Nisa 4:142
Indeed, the hypocrites seek to deceive The God, while He deceives them. When they rise for prayer, they rise lazily, showing off to people, and remember The God but little.
An-Nisa 4:143
ۚ
Wavering between that, belonging neither to these nor to those. Whoever The God leads astray, you will never find a way for him.
An-Nisa 4:144
ۚ
O you who believe, do not take disbelievers as guardians instead of believers. Do you wish to give The God clear authority against yourselves?
An-Nisa 4:145
Indeed, the hypocrites are in the lowest depth of the Fire, and you will never find a helper for them.
An-Nisa 4:146
ۖ
Except those who repent, make amends, hold fast to The God, and make their religion sincere for The God. Those are with the believers, and The God will give the believers a great reward.
An-Nisa 4:147
ۚ
What would The God do with your punishment if you are grateful and believe? The God is appreciative, knowing.
An-Nisa 4:148
ۚ
The God does not love the public utterance of evil speech, except by one who has been wronged. The God is hearing, knowing.
An-Nisa 4:149
If you disclose a good deed or conceal it, or pardon an evil, indeed, The God is pardoning, powerful.
An-Nisa 4:150
Those who disbelieve in The God and His messengers, wish to separate The God from His messengers, and say, “We believe in some and disbelieve in some,” wishing to take a way in between—
An-Nisa 4:151
ۚ
Those are truly the disbelievers. We have prepared a humiliating punishment for the disbelievers.
An-Nisa 4:152
ۗ
Those who believe in The God and His messengers and make no distinction between any of them, He will give them their rewards. The God is forgiving, merciful.
An-Nisa 4:153
ۚ ۚ ۚ
The People of the Book ask you to bring down a book from heaven upon them. They asked Moses for something greater than that, saying, “Show us The God openly.” The thunderbolt seized them for their wrongdoing. Then they took the calf after clear proofs had come to them. We pardoned that and gave Moses clear authority.
An-Nisa 4:154
We raised the mountain above them for their covenant, and said to them, “Enter the gate prostrating.” We said to them, “Do not transgress concerning the Sabbath,” and took a solemn covenant from them.
An-Nisa 4:155
ۚ
So for their breaking their covenant, their disbelief in The God’s signs, their killing the prophets without right, and their saying, “Our hearts are covered”—rather, The God has sealed them for their disbelief, so they believe but little—
An-Nisa 4:156
And for their disbelief and their uttering a great slander against Mary;
An-Nisa 4:157
ۚ ۚ ۚ
And their saying, “We killed the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, the messenger of The God.” They did not kill him or crucify him, but it was made to appear so to them. Those who differ concerning him are in doubt about him. They have no knowledge of it, only following conjecture. They certainly did not kill him.
An-Nisa 4:158
ۚ
Rather, The God raised him to Himself. The God is mighty, wise.
An-Nisa 4:159
ۖ
There is none of the People of the Book but will surely believe in him before his death. On the Day of Resurrection, he will be a witness against them.
An-Nisa 4:160
For wrongdoing by those who became Jews, We forbade them good things that had been lawful for them, and for their much hindering from the way of The God;
An-Nisa 4:161
ۚ
And for their taking usury though they had been forbidden it, and their consuming people’s wealth wrongfully. We have prepared a painful punishment for the disbelievers among them.
An-Nisa 4:162
ۚ ۚ
But those among them firmly grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what was sent down to you and what was sent down before you; and those who establish prayer, give zakat, and believe in The God and the Last Day—those We will give a great reward.
An-Nisa 4:163
ۚ ۚ
We have revealed to you as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. We revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the tribes, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon; and We gave David the Psalms.
An-Nisa 4:164
ۚ
And messengers We have recounted to you before, and messengers We have not recounted to you. The God spoke to Moses directly.
An-Nisa 4:165
ۚ
Messengers bearing good news and warning, so that people would have no argument against The God after the messengers. The God is mighty, wise.
An-Nisa 4:166
ۖ ۖ ۚ
But The God bears witness to what He has sent down to you; He sent it down with His knowledge. The angels bear witness, and The God is sufficient as a witness.
An-Nisa 4:167
Those who disbelieve and hinder from the way of The God have strayed far astray.
An-Nisa 4:168
Those who disbelieve and do wrong—The God will neither forgive them nor guide them to a path,
An-Nisa 4:169
ۚ
Except the path of Hell, abiding therein forever. That is easy for The God.
An-Nisa 4:170
ۚ ۚ
O people, the messenger has come to you with the truth from your Lord. Believe; it is better for you. If you disbelieve, then to The God belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. The God is knowing, wise.
An-Nisa 4:171
ۚ ۖ ۖ ۚ ۚ ۖ ۘ ۗ
O People of the Book, do not go to excess in your religion, and say nothing about The God except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, is only The God’s messenger and His word which He cast to Mary, and a spirit from Him. Believe in The God and His messengers, and do not say, “Three.” Desist; it is better for you. The God is only one God. Exalted is He above having a child. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. The God is sufficient as a trustee.
An-Nisa 4:172
ۚ
The Messiah will never disdain being a servant of The God, nor will the angels brought near. Whoever disdains His worship and is arrogant, He will gather them all to Himself.
An-Nisa 4:173
ۖ
As for those who believe and do righteous deeds, He will give them their rewards in full and add to them from His bounty. But those who disdain and are arrogant, He will punish with a painful punishment, and they will find for themselves neither a guardian nor a helper besides The God.
An-Nisa 4:174
O people, a proof has come to you from your Lord, and We have sent down to you a clear light.
An-Nisa 4:175
As for those who believe in The God and hold fast to Him, He will admit them into mercy and bounty from Himself and guide them to Himself on a straight path.
An-Nisa 4:176
ۚ ۚ ۚ ۚ ۗ ۗ
They ask you for a ruling. Say, “The God gives you a ruling concerning kalalah: if a man dies leaving no child but a sister, hers is half of what he leaves. He inherits from her if she has no child. If there are two sisters, theirs is two-thirds of what he leaves. If there are siblings, men and women, the male has the equivalent of the share of two females.” The God makes clear to you lest you go astray. The God knows all things.
