·Thunder·43 Verses

In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Ar-Rad 13:1

ۚ ۗ

Alif, Lam, Mim, Ra. These are the signs of the Book. What has been sent down to you from your Lord is the truth, but most people do not believe.

Ar-Rad 13:2

ۖ ۖ ۖ ۚ

The God is the One who raised the heavens without pillars you can see, then established Himself upon the Throne and subjected the sun and the moon. Each runs for an appointed term. He directs the affair and sets out the signs in detail, so that you may be certain of meeting your Lord.

Ar-Rad 13:3

ۖ ۖ ۚ

He is the One who spread out the earth and placed firm mountains and rivers in it, and made in it two mates of every fruit. He covers the day with the night. In that are signs for people who reflect.

Ar-Rad 13:4

ۚ

On earth are neighboring tracts, gardens of grapevines, crops, and date palms sharing a root or standing separately, watered with one water. We favor some over others in what they yield to eat. In that are signs for people who reason.

Ar-Rad 13:5

ۗ ۖ ۖ ۖ

If you wonder, wondrous is their saying, “When we become dust, will we be in a new creation?” They are those who disbelieve in their Lord. They will have shackles around their necks, and they are companions of the Fire, remaining in it.

Ar-Rad 13:6

ۗ ۖ

They ask you to hasten evil before good, though exemplary punishments have passed before them. Your Lord possesses forgiveness for people despite their wrongdoing, and your Lord is severe in punishment.

Ar-Rad 13:7

ۗ ۖ

Those who disbelieve say, “Why has no sign from his Lord been sent down to him?” You are only a warner, and every people has a guide.

Ar-Rad 13:8

ۖ

The God knows what every female bears, and what the wombs diminish and what they increase. Everything with Him has a measure.

Ar-Rad 13:9

Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Great, the Exalted.

Ar-Rad 13:10

It is the same whether one of you conceals speech or declares it, and whether one hides by night or goes about by day.

Ar-Rad 13:11

ۗ ۗ ۚ

For him are successive attendants before him and behind him, guarding him by the command of The God. The God does not change what is in a people until they change what is in themselves. When The God intends harm for a people, none can turn it back, and they have no protector apart from Him.

Ar-Rad 13:12

He is the One who shows you lightning, bringing fear and hope, and raises the heavy clouds.

Ar-Rad 13:13

Thunder glorifies Him with praise, as do the angels in awe of Him. He sends thunderbolts and strikes with them whomever He wills, while they dispute about The God. He is mighty in power.

Ar-Rad 13:14

ۖ ۚ

To Him belongs the true call. Those they call upon apart from Him do not answer them at all, except as one who stretches his palms toward water so that it may reach his mouth, though it will not reach it. The call of the disbelievers is only in error.

Ar-Rad 13:15

۩

To The God prostrates whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, as do their shadows in the mornings and evenings.

Ar-Rad 13:16

ۚ ۚ ۗ ۚ

Say, “Who is Lord of the heavens and the earth?” Say, “The God.” Say, “Have you taken protectors apart from Him who possess no benefit or harm even for themselves?” Say, “Are the blind and the seeing equal, or are darkness and light equal? Or have they assigned partners to The God who created as He creates, so that creation has become indistinguishable to them?” Say, “The God is Creator of all things. He is the One, the Overpowering.”

Ar-Rad 13:17

ۚ ۚ ۚ ۖ ۚ

He sent water down from the sky, and valleys flowed according to their measure. The torrent carried rising foam. From what they heat in the fire to make ornaments or utensils comes foam like it. Thus The God illustrates truth and falsehood. The foam passes away as refuse, while what benefits people remains in the earth. Thus The God sets forth examples.

Ar-Rad 13:18

ۚ ۚ ۖ

For those who respond to their Lord is the best. Those who do not respond to Him, if they possessed everything on earth and as much again with it, would offer it as ransom. They will have an evil reckoning, and their refuge is Hell. Wretched is the resting place.

Ar-Rad 13:19

ۚ

Is one who knows that what has been sent down to you from your Lord is the truth like one who is blind? Only people of understanding take heed—

Ar-Rad 13:20

Those who fulfill the covenant of The God and do not break the pledge;

Ar-Rad 13:21

Those who join what The God has commanded to be joined, stand in awe of their Lord, and fear an evil reckoning;

Ar-Rad 13:22

Those who are patient, seeking the face of their Lord, establish prayer, spend secretly and openly from what We have provided them, and repel evil with good. For them is the final abode—

Ar-Rad 13:23

ۖ

Gardens of lasting residence, which they will enter along with the righteous among their fathers, spouses, and descendants. The angels will enter upon them through every gate:

Ar-Rad 13:24

ۚ

“Peace upon you for your patience. How excellent is the final abode.”

Ar-Rad 13:25

ۙ

Those who break the covenant of The God after its confirmation, sever what The God has commanded to be joined, and spread corruption on earth—for them are the curse and the evil abode.

Ar-Rad 13:26

ۚ

The God expands provision for whomever He wills and restricts it. They rejoice in the worldly life, though the worldly life compared with the Hereafter is only an enjoyment.

Ar-Rad 13:27

ۗ

Those who disbelieve say, “Why has no sign from his Lord been sent down to him?” Say, “The God leads astray whomever He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back—

Ar-Rad 13:28

ۗ

Those who believe and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of The God. Indeed, in the remembrance of The God hearts find rest.”

Ar-Rad 13:29

Those who believe and do righteous deeds have blessedness and a good place of return.

Ar-Rad 13:30

ۚ

Thus We have sent you among a community before which communities have passed, to recite to them what We have revealed to you, while they disbelieve in the Entirely Merciful. Say, “He is my Lord. There is no god but Him. On Him I have relied, and to Him is my return.”

Ar-Rad 13:31

ۗ ۗ ۗ ۚ

If there were a Qur’an by which mountains were moved, the earth was split, or the dead were spoken to—rather, the whole affair belongs to The God. Have those who believe not realized that, had The God willed, He would have guided all people? Those who disbelieve will continue to be struck by a calamity for what they have wrought, or it will settle near their home, until the promise of The God comes. The God does not fail the appointment.

Ar-Rad 13:32

ۖ

Messengers before you were mocked. I granted respite to those who disbelieved, then seized them. How was My punishment?

Ar-Rad 13:33

ۗ ۚ ۗ ۗ

What of One who stands over every soul and what it has earned? Yet they assign partners to The God. Say, “Name them. Are you informing Him of something on earth He does not know, or merely of outward speech?” Rather, the scheming of those who disbelieve has been made fair to them, and they have been barred from the way. Whoever The God leads astray has no guide.

Ar-Rad 13:34

ۖ ۖ

They have a punishment in the worldly life, and the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe. They have no protector against The God.

Ar-Rad 13:35

ۖ ۖ ۚ ۖ

The likeness of the Garden promised to the mindful: rivers flow beneath it; its food and shade endure. That is the outcome for those who are mindful, while the outcome for the disbelievers is the Fire.

Ar-Rad 13:36

ۖ ۚ ۚ

Those to whom We have given the Book rejoice in what has been sent down to you, while some factions deny part of it. Say, “I have only been commanded to worship The God and associate nothing with Him. To Him I call, and to Him is my return.”

Ar-Rad 13:37

ۚ

Thus We have sent it down as an Arabic judgment. If you follow their desires after the knowledge that has come to you, you will have no protector or guardian against The God.

Ar-Rad 13:38

ۚ ۗ

We sent messengers before you and gave them spouses and descendants. No messenger can bring a sign except by the permission of The God. For every term there is a decree.

Ar-Rad 13:39

ۖ

The God erases what He wills and establishes, and with Him is the source of the Book.

Ar-Rad 13:40

Whether We show you some of what We promise them or take you in death, your duty is only to convey, and Ours is the reckoning.

Ar-Rad 13:41

ۚ ۚ

Have they not seen that We come to the land, reducing it from its edges? The God judges; none can reverse His judgment. He is swift in reckoning.

Ar-Rad 13:42

ۖ ۗ

Those before them schemed, but all planning belongs to The God. He knows what every soul earns, and the disbelievers will come to know to whom the final abode belongs.

Ar-Rad 13:43

ۚ

Those who disbelieve say, “You are not a messenger.” Say, “The God is sufficient as a witness between me and you, and whoever possesses knowledge of the Book.”
