·Mary·98 Verses

In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Maryam 19:1

Kaf, Ha, Ya, Ayn, Sad.

Maryam 19:2

An account of your Lord’s mercy toward His servant Zechariah,

Maryam 19:3

when he called upon his Lord with a hidden call.

Maryam 19:4

He said, “My Lord, my bones have weakened and my head has blazed with gray hair. My Lord, I have never been disappointed in calling upon You.

Maryam 19:5

I fear my kinsfolk after me, and my wife has been barren. Grant me from Yourself a successor,

Maryam 19:6

ۖ

who will inherit from me and from the family of Jacob. My Lord, make him pleasing.”

Maryam 19:7

“Zechariah, We give you good news of a boy whose name is John. We have not given anyone this name before.”

Maryam 19:8

He said, “My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?”

Maryam 19:9

He said, “So it will be. Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me. I created you before, when you were nothing.’”

Maryam 19:10

ۚ

He said, “My Lord, appoint a sign for me.” He said, “Your sign is that you will not speak to people for three nights, though sound.”

Maryam 19:11

He came out to his people from the sanctuary and signaled to them to glorify morning and evening.

Maryam 19:12

ۖ

“John, hold firmly to the Book.” We gave him judgment while still a child,

Maryam 19:13

ۖ

and tenderness from Us, and purity. He was mindful,

Maryam 19:14

and good to his parents, and was not an arrogant rebel.

Maryam 19:15

Peace be upon him the day he was born, the day he dies, and the day he is raised alive.

Maryam 19:16

Mention Mary in the Book, when she withdrew from her family to an eastern place.

Maryam 19:17

She placed a screen between herself and them. Then We sent Our spirit to her, and he appeared to her as a fully formed human.

Maryam 19:18

She said, “I seek refuge in the Entirely Merciful from you, if you are mindful.”

Maryam 19:19

He said, “I am only your Lord’s messenger, to grant you a pure boy.”

Maryam 19:20

She said, “How will I have a boy when no human has touched me and I have not been unchaste?”

Maryam 19:21

ۖ ۚ

He said, “So it will be. Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me,’ and so that We may make him a sign for people and a mercy from Us. It is a matter decreed.”

Maryam 19:22

She conceived him and withdrew with him to a distant place.

Maryam 19:23

The pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm. She said, “If only I had died before this and been something forgotten, entirely out of mind!”

Maryam 19:24

Then he called to her from below her, “Do not grieve. Your Lord has placed a stream beneath you.

Maryam 19:25

Shake the palm trunk toward you; it will drop fresh, ripe dates upon you.

Maryam 19:26

ۖ

Eat, drink, and be comforted. If you see any human, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the Entirely Merciful, so today I will not speak to any human.’”

Maryam 19:27

ۖ

She brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, “Mary, you have done an extraordinary and grievous thing!

Maryam 19:28

Sister of Aaron, your father was not an evil man, nor was your mother unchaste.”

Maryam 19:29

ۖ

She pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to one who is a child in the cradle?”

Maryam 19:30

He said, “I am a servant of The God. He has given me the Book and made me a prophet.

Maryam 19:31

He has made me blessed wherever I am, and has enjoined prayer and zakat upon me as long as I live,

Maryam 19:32

and kindness to my mother. He has not made me an arrogant, wretched person.

Maryam 19:33

Peace be upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I am raised alive.”

Maryam 19:34

ۚ

That is Jesus, son of Mary—the word of truth about which they doubt.

Maryam 19:35

ۖ ۚ

It is not for The God to take a child. Glory be to Him! When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is.

Maryam 19:36

ۚ

The God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path.

Maryam 19:37

ۖ

The factions differed among themselves. Woe to those who disbelieve at the witnessing of a tremendous day!

Maryam 19:38

ۖ

How clearly they will hear and see on the day they come to Us! But today the wrongdoers are in clear error.

Maryam 19:39

Warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter is decided, while they are heedless and do not believe.

Maryam 19:40

We will inherit the earth and whoever is upon it, and to Us they will be returned.

Maryam 19:41

ۚ

Mention Abraham in the Book. He was a man of truth and a prophet.

Maryam 19:42

When he said to his father, “My father, why do you worship what neither hears nor sees nor avails you anything?

Maryam 19:43

My father, knowledge has come to me that has not come to you. Follow me, and I will guide you to a sound path.

Maryam 19:44

ۖ

My father, do not worship Satan. Satan has been rebellious toward the Entirely Merciful.

Maryam 19:45

My father, I fear that punishment from the Entirely Merciful will touch you, and you will become an ally of Satan.”

Maryam 19:46

ۖ ۖ

He said, “Do you turn away from my gods, Abraham? If you do not stop, I will surely stone you. Leave me for a long time.”

Maryam 19:47

ۖ ۖ

He said, “Peace be upon you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you. He has always been gracious to me.

Maryam 19:48

I will withdraw from you and what you call upon apart from The God, and I will call upon my Lord. I hope I will not be disappointed in calling upon my Lord.”

Maryam 19:49

ۖ

When he withdrew from them and what they worshipped apart from The God, We granted him Isaac and Jacob, and made each a prophet.

Maryam 19:50

We granted them of Our mercy and gave them an exalted reputation for truth.

Maryam 19:51

ۚ

Mention Moses in the Book. He was chosen, and was a messenger and a prophet.

Maryam 19:52

We called him from the right side of the Mount and brought him near in private communion.

Maryam 19:53

Out of Our mercy We granted him his brother Aaron as a prophet.

Maryam 19:54

ۚ

Mention Ishmael in the Book. He was true to his promise, and was a messenger and a prophet.

Maryam 19:55

He commanded his family to prayer and zakat, and was pleasing to his Lord.

Maryam 19:56

ۚ

Mention Idris in the Book. He was a man of truth and a prophet.

Maryam 19:57

We raised him to a high station.

Maryam 19:58

ۚ ۩

These are the prophets whom The God favored: from the descendants of Adam, from those We carried with Noah, from the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and from those We guided and chose. When the signs of the Entirely Merciful were recited to them, they fell down in prostration and weeping.

Maryam 19:59

ۖ

After them came successors who neglected prayer and followed desires. They will meet with ruin,

Maryam 19:60

except those who repent, believe, and act righteously. They will enter the Garden and will not be wronged at all.

Maryam 19:61

ۚ

Gardens of lasting abode that the Entirely Merciful has promised His servants in the unseen. His promise will surely be fulfilled.

Maryam 19:62

ۖ

They will hear no idle talk there, only peace. They will have their provision there morning and evening.

Maryam 19:63

That is the Garden We give as an inheritance to those of Our servants who are mindful.

Maryam 19:64

ۖ ۚ

We descend only by your Lord’s command. To Him belongs what is before us, what is behind us, and what is between them. Your Lord is never forgetful.

Maryam 19:65

ۚ

Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them. Worship Him and persevere in His worship. Do you know any namesake for Him?

Maryam 19:66

The human being says, “When I have died, will I really be brought forth alive?”

Maryam 19:67

Does the human being not remember that We created him before, when he was nothing?

Maryam 19:68

By your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils, then bring them around Hell on their knees.

Maryam 19:69

Then We will draw out from every group those most defiant toward the Entirely Merciful.

Maryam 19:70

We know best those most deserving of burning in it.

Maryam 19:71

ۚ

There is none of you who will not come to it. This is a binding decree upon your Lord.

Maryam 19:72

Then We will save those who were mindful and leave the wrongdoers there on their knees.

Maryam 19:73

When Our clear signs are recited to them, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, “Which of the two groups has the better position and finer gathering?”

Maryam 19:74

How many generations before them We destroyed who were finer in furnishings and appearance!

Maryam 19:75

ۚ

Say, “Whoever is in error, let the Entirely Merciful extend his respite.” Until, when they see what they are promised—either punishment or the Hour—they will know who is worse in position and weaker in forces.

Maryam 19:76

ۗ

The God increases those who are guided in guidance. Lasting righteous deeds are better with your Lord in reward and better in return.

Maryam 19:77

Have you seen the one who rejected Our signs and said, “I will surely be given wealth and children”?

Maryam 19:78

Has he looked into the unseen, or taken a covenant with the Entirely Merciful?

Maryam 19:79

ۚ

No indeed! We will record what he says and extend his punishment.

Maryam 19:80

We will inherit from him what he speaks of, and he will come to Us alone.

Maryam 19:81

They have taken gods apart from The God to be a source of might for them.

Maryam 19:82

ۚ

No indeed! They will deny their worship and turn against them.

Maryam 19:83

Have you not seen that We have sent the devils against the disbelievers, inciting them intensely?

Maryam 19:84

ۖ

Do not hasten against them. We are only counting for them.

Maryam 19:85

On the day We gather the mindful to the Entirely Merciful as a delegation,

Maryam 19:86

and drive the guilty toward Hell, thirsty.

Maryam 19:87

They have no power of intercession, except one who has taken a covenant with the Entirely Merciful.

Maryam 19:88

They say, “The Entirely Merciful has taken a child.”

Maryam 19:89

You have brought forth an appalling thing.

Maryam 19:90

The heavens almost tear apart from it, the earth splits open, and the mountains fall in collapse,

Maryam 19:91

because they attribute a child to the Entirely Merciful.

Maryam 19:92

It is not fitting for the Entirely Merciful to take a child.

Maryam 19:93

There is no one in the heavens and the earth who will not come to the Entirely Merciful as a servant.

Maryam 19:94

He has encompassed them and counted them one by one.

Maryam 19:95

Each of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection.

Maryam 19:96

For those who believe and do righteous deeds, the Entirely Merciful will appoint affection.

Maryam 19:97

We have made it easy in your tongue so that you may give good news to the mindful through it and warn a contentious people through it.

Maryam 19:98

How many generations before them We destroyed! Do you sense any of them or hear a faint sound from them?
