In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Al-Anbiya 21:1
The reckoning of the people has drawn near, while they turn away in heedlessness.
Al-Anbiya 21:2
No fresh reminder comes to them from their Lord without their listening to it while playing,
Al-Anbiya 21:3
ۗ ۖ
their hearts distracted. Those who did wrong concealed their private conversation: “Is this not merely a human like you? Will you approach magic while you see?”
Al-Anbiya 21:4
ۖ
He said, “My Lord knows what is spoken in heaven and on earth. He is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
Al-Anbiya 21:5
They said, “Confused dreams! Rather, he invented it. Rather, he is a poet. Let him bring us a sign, as the earlier ones were sent.”
Al-Anbiya 21:6
ۖ
No town We destroyed before them believed. Will these people believe?
Al-Anbiya 21:7
ۖ
Before you We sent only men to whom We revealed. Ask the people of remembrance if you do not know.
Al-Anbiya 21:8
We did not make them bodies that did not eat food, nor were they immortal.
Al-Anbiya 21:9
Then We fulfilled the promise to them, saved them and whoever We willed, and destroyed those who exceeded bounds.
Al-Anbiya 21:10
ۖ
We have sent down to you a Book in which is your remembrance. Will you not reason?
Al-Anbiya 21:11
How many wrongdoing towns We shattered, raising other people after them!
Al-Anbiya 21:12
When they sensed Our punishment, they began fleeing from it.
Al-Anbiya 21:13
“Do not flee. Return to the luxury you enjoyed and to your homes, so that you may be questioned.”
Al-Anbiya 21:14
They said, “Woe to us! We were wrongdoers.”
Al-Anbiya 21:15
That remained their cry until We made them like a harvested field, extinguished.
Al-Anbiya 21:16
We did not create heaven and earth and what is between them in play.
Al-Anbiya 21:17
Had We wished to take a pastime, We would have taken it from Our own presence, if We were to do so.
Al-Anbiya 21:18
ۚ
Rather, We hurl truth against falsehood, and it crushes it; then it vanishes. Woe to you for what you describe!
Al-Anbiya 21:19
ۚ
To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. Those near Him are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they grow weary.
Al-Anbiya 21:20
They glorify night and day without flagging.
Al-Anbiya 21:21
Have they taken gods from the earth who raise the dead?
Al-Anbiya 21:22
ۚ
If there were gods in them other than The God, both would be ruined. Glory be to The God, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe!
Al-Anbiya 21:23
He is not questioned about what He does, but they are questioned.
Al-Anbiya 21:24
ۖ ۖ ۗ ۖ
Have they taken gods apart from Him? Say, “Bring your proof. This is the remembrance of those with me and the remembrance of those before me.” But most of them do not know the truth, so they turn away.
Al-Anbiya 21:25
We sent no messenger before you without revealing to him, “There is no god but Me, so worship Me.”
Al-Anbiya 21:26
ۗ ۚ
They say, “The Entirely Merciful has taken a child.” Glory be to Him! Rather, they are honored servants.
Al-Anbiya 21:27
They do not precede Him in speech, and they act by His command.
Al-Anbiya 21:28
He knows what is before them and what is behind them. They intercede only for one He approves of, and they are apprehensive in awe of Him.
Al-Anbiya 21:29
ۚ
Whoever among them says, “I am a god apart from Him,” We will recompense with Hell. In this way We recompense the wrongdoers.
Al-Anbiya 21:30
ۖ ۖ
Have those who disbelieve not seen that the heavens and the earth were joined together, and We opened them apart, and made every living thing from water? Will they not believe?
Al-Anbiya 21:31
We placed firm mountains in the earth lest it sway with them, and made broad passages in it as paths, so that they may find their way.
Al-Anbiya 21:32
ۖ
We made the sky a protected roof, yet they turn away from its signs.
Al-Anbiya 21:33
ۖ
He is the One who created night and day, the sun and the moon. Each swims in an orbit.
Al-Anbiya 21:34
ۖ
We granted immortality to no human before you. If you die, will they live forever?
Al-Anbiya 21:35
ۗ ۖ
Every soul will taste death. We test you with evil and good as a trial, and to Us you will be returned.
Al-Anbiya 21:36
When those who disbelieve see you, they take you only in mockery: “Is this the one who speaks of your gods?” Yet they reject the remembrance of the Entirely Merciful.
Al-Anbiya 21:37
ۚ
The human being was created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not ask Me to hasten.
Al-Anbiya 21:38
They say, “When will this promise be, if you are truthful?”
Al-Anbiya 21:39
If only those who disbelieve knew the time when they cannot ward the Fire off their faces or their backs, and will not be helped!
Al-Anbiya 21:40
Rather, it will come upon them suddenly and bewilder them. They will not be able to repel it, nor will they be given respite.
Al-Anbiya 21:41
Messengers before you were mocked, and what they mocked surrounded those who ridiculed them.
Al-Anbiya 21:42
ۗ
Say, “Who guards you by night and day against the Entirely Merciful?” Yet they turn away from the remembrance of their Lord.
Al-Anbiya 21:43
ۚ
Do they have gods who protect them apart from Us? They cannot help themselves, nor are they given protection by Us.
Al-Anbiya 21:44
ۗ ۚ
We gave these people and their fathers enjoyment until their lives grew long. Do they not see that We come to the land, reducing it from its edges? Are they the victors?
Al-Anbiya 21:45
ۚ
Say, “I warn you only through revelation.” The deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.
Al-Anbiya 21:46
If a breath of your Lord’s punishment touches them, they will surely say, “Woe to us! We were wrongdoers.”
Al-Anbiya 21:47
ۖ ۗ
We will set up the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, and no soul will be wronged at all. Even if it is the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it. We suffice as reckoners.
Al-Anbiya 21:48
We gave Moses and Aaron the criterion, a light, and a reminder for the mindful,
Al-Anbiya 21:49
those who fear their Lord unseen and are apprehensive of the Hour.
Al-Anbiya 21:50
ۚ
This is a blessed reminder We have sent down. Will you deny it?
Al-Anbiya 21:51
We had given Abraham his sound judgment before, and We knew him well.
Al-Anbiya 21:52
When he said to his father and his people, “What are these statues to which you remain devoted?”
Al-Anbiya 21:53
They said, “We found our fathers worshipping them.”
Al-Anbiya 21:54
He said, “You and your fathers have been in clear error.”
Al-Anbiya 21:55
They said, “Have you brought us the truth, or are you playing?”
Al-Anbiya 21:56
He said, “Rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who originated them, and I am among the witnesses to that.
Al-Anbiya 21:57
By The God, I will devise a plan against your idols after you turn your backs and leave.”
Al-Anbiya 21:58
He broke them into fragments, except a large one of them, so that they might return to it.
Al-Anbiya 21:59
They said, “Who has done this to our gods? He is one of the wrongdoers.”
Al-Anbiya 21:60
They said, “We heard a young man speaking of them. He is called Abraham.”
Al-Anbiya 21:61
They said, “Bring him before the people’s eyes, so that they may witness.”
Al-Anbiya 21:62
They said, “Did you do this to our gods, Abraham?”
Al-Anbiya 21:63
He said, “Rather, this large one of theirs did it. Ask them, if they can speak.”
Al-Anbiya 21:64
They turned to themselves and said, “You yourselves are the wrongdoers.”
Al-Anbiya 21:65
Then they were turned upside down: “You know that these do not speak.”
Al-Anbiya 21:66
He said, “Do you worship apart from The God what neither benefits you at all nor harms you?
Al-Anbiya 21:67
ۖ
Uff to you and to what you worship apart from The God! Will you not reason?”
Al-Anbiya 21:68
They said, “Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to act.”
Al-Anbiya 21:69
We said, “Fire, be coolness and safety for Abraham.”
Al-Anbiya 21:70
They intended a plot against him, but We made them the greatest losers.
Al-Anbiya 21:71
We delivered him and Lot to the land We had blessed for all peoples.
Al-Anbiya 21:72
ۖ
We granted him Isaac and Jacob as an added gift, and made them all righteous.
Al-Anbiya 21:73
ۖ
We made them leaders who guided by Our command, and revealed to them the doing of good deeds, the establishment of prayer, and the giving of zakat. They were worshippers of Us.
Al-Anbiya 21:74
ۗ
We gave Lot judgment and knowledge, and saved him from the town that practiced foul deeds. They were an evil, defiant people.
Al-Anbiya 21:75
ۖ
We admitted him into Our mercy. He was among the righteous.
Al-Anbiya 21:76
And Noah, when he called before: We answered him and saved him and his family from the great distress.
Al-Anbiya 21:77
ۚ
We helped him against the people who denied Our signs. They were an evil people, so We drowned them all.
Al-Anbiya 21:78
And David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field into which the people’s sheep had strayed by night. We witnessed their judgment.
Al-Anbiya 21:79
ۚ ۚ ۚ
We gave Solomon understanding of it, and gave each judgment and knowledge. We subjected the mountains and birds to glorify with David. We were the doers.
Al-Anbiya 21:80
ۖ
We taught him the making of armor for you, to protect you from your fighting. Will you be grateful?
Al-Anbiya 21:81
ۚ
For Solomon, the stormy wind ran by his command toward the land We had blessed. We knew all things.
Al-Anbiya 21:82
ۖ
Among the devils were those who dived for him and did other work besides that. We guarded them.
Al-Anbiya 21:83
And Job, when he called upon his Lord, “Affliction has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful.”
Al-Anbiya 21:84
ۖ
We answered him, removed his affliction, and gave him his family and their like with them, as a mercy from Us and a reminder for worshippers.
Al-Anbiya 21:85
ۖ
And Ishmael, Idris, and Dhul-Kifl—all were among the patient.
Al-Anbiya 21:86
ۖ
We admitted them into Our mercy. They were among the righteous.
Al-Anbiya 21:87
And the companion of the fish, when he went away in anger and thought We would not constrain him. He called out in the darkness, “There is no god but You. Glory be to You! I was among the wrongdoers.”
Al-Anbiya 21:88
ۚ
We answered him and saved him from distress. In this way We save the believers.
Al-Anbiya 21:89
And Zechariah, when he called upon his Lord, “My Lord, do not leave me alone. You are the best of inheritors.”
Al-Anbiya 21:90
ۚ ۖ
We answered him, granted him John, and made his wife sound for him. They hastened in good deeds, called upon Us in hope and fear, and were humble before Us.
Al-Anbiya 21:91
And the woman who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit and made her and her son a sign for all peoples.
Al-Anbiya 21:92
This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.
Al-Anbiya 21:93
ۖ
They divided their affair among themselves. All will return to Us.
Al-Anbiya 21:94
Whoever does righteous deeds while a believer, his striving will not be denied, and We record it for him.
Al-Anbiya 21:95
It is forbidden for a town We have destroyed that they should not return,
Al-Anbiya 21:96
until Gog and Magog are let loose, rushing down from every elevation,
Al-Anbiya 21:97
and the true promise draws near. Then the eyes of those who disbelieve will stare: “Woe to us! We were heedless of this. Rather, we were wrongdoers.”
Al-Anbiya 21:98
You and what you worship apart from The God are fuel for Hell. You will come to it.
Al-Anbiya 21:99
ۖ
Had these been gods, they would not have entered it. All will remain in it forever.
Al-Anbiya 21:100
They will groan there, and there they will not hear.
Al-Anbiya 21:101
Those for whom the finest has already gone forth from Us will be kept far from it.
Al-Anbiya 21:102
ۖ
They will not hear its sound, and will remain forever in what their souls desire.
Al-Anbiya 21:103
The greatest terror will not grieve them, and the angels will receive them: “This is your day that you were promised.”
Al-Anbiya 21:104
ۚ ۚ ۚ
On the day We roll up the sky as a scroll is rolled up for writings. As We began the first creation, We will restore it—a promise binding upon Us. We will do it.
Al-Anbiya 21:105
We wrote in the Psalms, after the Reminder, that My righteous servants will inherit the earth.
Al-Anbiya 21:106
In this is a message for a people who worship.
Al-Anbiya 21:107
We sent you only as a mercy to all peoples.
Al-Anbiya 21:108
ۖ
Say, “It is revealed to me that your god is only One God. Will you submit?”
Al-Anbiya 21:109
ۖ
If they turn away, say, “I have informed you all equally. I do not know whether what you are promised is near or far.
Al-Anbiya 21:110
He knows what is spoken openly, and He knows what you conceal.
Al-Anbiya 21:111
I do not know; perhaps it is a trial for you and an enjoyment for a time.”
Al-Anbiya 21:112
ۗ
He said, “My Lord, judge with truth.” Our Lord is the Entirely Merciful, whose help is sought against what you describe.
