Surah Ya-Sin

·Ya, Sin·83 Verses

In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Ya-Sin 36:1

Ya, Sin.

Ya-Sin 36:2

By the wise Quran,

Ya-Sin 36:3

you are indeed among the messengers,

Ya-Sin 36:4

upon a straight path,

Ya-Sin 36:5

a sending down from the Mighty, the Merciful,

Ya-Sin 36:6

so that you may warn a people whose fathers were not warned, so they are heedless.

Ya-Sin 36:7

The word has already come true against most of them, so they do not believe.

Ya-Sin 36:8

We have placed shackles on their necks reaching to their chins, so their heads are held up.

Ya-Sin 36:9

And We placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, and covered them, so they do not see.

Ya-Sin 36:10

And it is the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them; they do not believe.

Ya-Sin 36:11

ۖ

You only warn one who follows the reminder and fears the Entirely Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and a noble reward.

Ya-Sin 36:12

ۚ

Indeed, We give life to the dead and write down what they sent ahead and their traces. And We have enumerated everything in a clear register.

Ya-Sin 36:13

And present to them the example of the people of the town, when the messengers came to it,

Ya-Sin 36:14

when We sent two to them, but they denied both, so We strengthened them with a third. They said: We are messengers to you.

Ya-Sin 36:15

They said: You are only humans like us, and the Entirely Merciful has sent down nothing. You are only lying.

Ya-Sin 36:16

They said: Our Lord knows that we are indeed messengers to you,

Ya-Sin 36:17

and our duty is only clear delivery.

Ya-Sin 36:18

ۖ

They said: We consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you, and a painful punishment from us will touch you.

Ya-Sin 36:19

ۚ ۚ

They said: Your omen is with you. Is it because you were reminded? Rather, you are a people who exceed bounds.

Ya-Sin 36:20

And from the farthest part of the city a man came running. He said: My people, follow the messengers.

Ya-Sin 36:21

Follow those who ask you for no reward and are guided.

Ya-Sin 36:22

And why should I not worship the One who originated me, and to whom you will be returned?

Ya-Sin 36:23

Shall I take deities besides Him? If the Entirely Merciful intends harm for me, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor will they rescue me.

Ya-Sin 36:24

Then I would indeed be in clear error.

Ya-Sin 36:25

I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me.

Ya-Sin 36:26

ۖ

It was said: Enter the Garden. He said: If only my people knew,

Ya-Sin 36:27

how my Lord forgave me and made me among the honored.

Ya-Sin 36:28

And after him We sent down no army from heaven against his people, nor were We to send any down.

Ya-Sin 36:29

It was only a single cry, and suddenly they were extinguished.

Ya-Sin 36:30

ۚ

Alas for the servants! No messenger comes to them without their mocking him.

Ya-Sin 36:31

Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, who do not return to them?

Ya-Sin 36:32

And all of them, together, will be brought before Us.

Ya-Sin 36:33

And a sign for them is the dead earth. We give it life and bring forth grain from it, from which they eat.

Ya-Sin 36:34

And We placed in it gardens of date palms and grapevines, and caused springs to flow in it,

Ya-Sin 36:35

ۖ

so that they may eat of its fruit, though their hands did not make it. Will they not then give thanks?

Ya-Sin 36:36

Glory be to the One who created all pairs, of what the earth grows, of themselves, and of what they do not know.

Ya-Sin 36:37

And a sign for them is the night. We strip the day from it, and suddenly they are in darkness.

Ya-Sin 36:38

ۚ

And the sun runs toward its resting place. That is the determination of the Mighty, the Knowing.

Ya-Sin 36:39

And for the moon We have determined phases, until it returns like an old date stalk.

Ya-Sin 36:40

ۚ

It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. And each swims in an orbit.

Ya-Sin 36:41

And a sign for them is that We carried their descendants in the laden ship,

Ya-Sin 36:42

and created for them the like of it on which they ride.

Ya-Sin 36:43

And if We will, We drown them, and there will be no one to answer their cry, nor will they be rescued,

Ya-Sin 36:44

except as a mercy from Us and enjoyment for a time.

Ya-Sin 36:45

And when it is said to them: Be mindful of what is before you and what is behind you, so that you may receive mercy,

Ya-Sin 36:46

no sign from their Lord’s signs comes to them without their turning away from it.

Ya-Sin 36:47

And when it is said to them: Spend from what The God has provided you, those who disbelieved say to those who believed: Should we feed one whom The God would have fed if He willed? You are only in clear error.

Ya-Sin 36:48

And they say: When will this promise be, if you are truthful?

Ya-Sin 36:49

They await only a single cry that will seize them while they dispute,

Ya-Sin 36:50

so they will be unable to make a bequest, nor will they return to their families.

Ya-Sin 36:51

And the trumpet will be blown, and suddenly they will hurry from the graves to their Lord.

Ya-Sin 36:52

ۜ ۗ

They will say: Woe to us! Who has raised us from our resting place? This is what the Entirely Merciful promised, and the messengers spoke the truth.

Ya-Sin 36:53

It will be only a single cry, and suddenly they will all be brought before Us.

Ya-Sin 36:54

So today no soul will be wronged at all, and you will be repaid only for what you used to do.

Ya-Sin 36:55

Indeed, the companions of the Garden today are joyfully occupied,

Ya-Sin 36:56

they and their spouses reclining on couches in shade.

Ya-Sin 36:57

They will have fruit there, and whatever they ask for.

Ya-Sin 36:58

Peace: a word from a Merciful Lord.

Ya-Sin 36:59

And stand apart today, you offenders.

Ya-Sin 36:60

ۖ

Did I not covenant with you, children of Adam, that you should not worship Satan, for he is your clear enemy,

Ya-Sin 36:61

ۚ

and that you should worship Me? This is a straight path.

Ya-Sin 36:62

ۖ

And he led a great multitude of you astray. Did you not reason?

Ya-Sin 36:63

This is the Hell you were promised.

Ya-Sin 36:64

Burn in it today for your disbelief.

Ya-Sin 36:65

Today We seal their mouths, and their hands speak to Us, and their feet bear witness to what they used to earn.

Ya-Sin 36:66

And if We willed, We could obliterate their eyes; then they would race toward the path, but how would they see?

Ya-Sin 36:67

And if We willed, We could transform them in their places, so that they could neither proceed nor return.

Ya-Sin 36:68

ۖ

And whoever We grant long life, We reverse in creation. Will they not then reason?

Ya-Sin 36:69

ۚ

And We did not teach him poetry, nor is it fitting for him. It is only a reminder and a clear Quran,

Ya-Sin 36:70

to warn whoever is alive, and so that the word may come true against the disbelievers.

Ya-Sin 36:71

Have they not seen that We created livestock for them from what Our hands have made, and they possess them?

Ya-Sin 36:72

And We subdued them for them; some are their mounts, and from some they eat.

Ya-Sin 36:73

ۖ

And they have benefits and drinks from them. Will they not then give thanks?

Ya-Sin 36:74

And they took deities besides The God, so that they might be helped.

Ya-Sin 36:75

They cannot help them, and they are an army brought before them.

Ya-Sin 36:76

ۘ

So let not their speech grieve you. We know what they conceal and what they disclose.

Ya-Sin 36:77

Has the human being not seen that We created him from a drop, and suddenly he is an open adversary?

Ya-Sin 36:78

ۖ

And he presents an example for Us and forgets his own creation. He says: Who gives life to bones when they have decayed?

Ya-Sin 36:79

ۖ

Say: The One who originated them the first time will give them life, and He knows every creation,

Ya-Sin 36:80

the One who made fire for you from the green tree, and from it you kindle.

Ya-Sin 36:81

ۚ

Is the One who created the heavens and the earth not able to create their like? Yes indeed, and He is the Knowing Creator.

Ya-Sin 36:82

His command, when He wills a thing, is only to say to it: Be, and it is.

Ya-Sin 36:83

So glory be to the One in whose hand is the dominion of all things, and to whom you will be returned.
