In the name of The God, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
Az-Zumar 39:1
The sending down of the Book is from The God, the Mighty, the Wise.
Az-Zumar 39:2
We sent down the Book to you in truth. So worship The God, making religion sincere for Him.
Az-Zumar 39:3
ۚ ۗ
Indeed, pure religion belongs to The God. And those who take protectors apart from Him: “We worship them only so that they may bring us nearer to The God.” The God will judge between them concerning their differences. The God does not guide one who is a liar and persistently ungrateful.
Az-Zumar 39:4
ۚ ۖ
Had The God intended to take a child, He would have chosen whatever He willed from what He creates. Glory be to Him! He is The God, the One, the Subduer.
Az-Zumar 39:5
ۖ ۖ ۖ ۗ
He created the heavens and the earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the day over the night, and subjected the sun and the moon, each running for a specified term. Indeed, He is the Mighty, the Ever-Forgiving.
Az-Zumar 39:6
ۚ ۚ ۖ ۖ
He created you from a single soul, then made its mate from it, and sent down for you eight pairs of livestock. He creates you in your mothers’ bellies, creation after creation, in three darknesses. That is The God, your Lord. His is the dominion. There is no god except Him. How then are you turned away?
Az-Zumar 39:7
ۖ ۖ ۗ ۗ ۚ
If you disbelieve, The God has no need of you, and He does not approve disbelief for His servants. If you are grateful, He approves it for you. No bearer bears another’s burden. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you of what you used to do. He knows what is within the breasts.
Az-Zumar 39:8
ۚ ۖ
When harm touches the human being, he calls upon his Lord, turning back to Him. Then, when He grants him a favor from Himself, he forgets what he called upon Him for before, and sets up equals to The God to lead astray from His path. Say, “Enjoy your disbelief for a little while. You are among the people of the Fire.”
Az-Zumar 39:9
ۗ ۗ
Or one who is devout during the hours of the night, prostrating and standing, fearing the Hereafter and hoping for his Lord’s mercy? Say, “Are those who know equal to those who do not know?” Only those of understanding take heed.
Az-Zumar 39:10
ۚ ۗ ۗ
Say, “My servants who believe, be mindful of your Lord. For those who do good in this world there is good, and the earth of The God is spacious. The patient will receive their reward in full, without reckoning.”
Az-Zumar 39:11
Say, “I have been commanded to worship The God, making religion sincere for Him,
Az-Zumar 39:12
and I have been commanded to be the first of those who submit.”
Az-Zumar 39:13
Say, “If I disobey my Lord, I fear the punishment of a great day.”
Az-Zumar 39:14
Say, “The God I worship, making my religion sincere for Him.
Az-Zumar 39:15
ۗ ۗ
So worship whatever you wish apart from Him.” Say, “The losers are those who have lost themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, that is the clear loss.”
Az-Zumar 39:16
ۚ ۚ
Above them are canopies of fire, and beneath them canopies. With this The God warns His servants. My servants, be mindful of Me.
Az-Zumar 39:17
ۚ
Those who avoid worshipping the taghut and turn back to The God have good news. So give good news to My servants
Az-Zumar 39:18
ۚ ۖ
who listen to speech and follow the best of it. They are those whom The God has guided, and they are those of understanding.
Az-Zumar 39:19
What of one against whom the word of punishment has come true? Can you rescue one who is in the Fire?
Az-Zumar 39:20
ۖ ۖ
But those who are mindful of their Lord have chambers above which chambers are built, beneath which rivers flow. The promise of The God; The God does not break His promise.
Az-Zumar 39:21
ۚ
Have you not seen that The God sends down water from the sky and channels it as springs in the earth, then brings forth with it crops of varied colors? Then they wither and you see them yellow; then He makes them fragments. In this is a reminder for those of understanding.
Az-Zumar 39:22
ۚ ۚ
What of one whose breast The God has opened to submission, so that he is upon a light from his Lord? Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of The God. They are in clear error.
Az-Zumar 39:23
ۚ ۚ
The God sent down the best discourse, a consistent, recurring Book, at which the skins of those who fear their Lord shiver. Then their skins and hearts soften toward the remembrance of The God. That is the guidance of The God, by which He guides whom He wills. Whoever The God leads astray has no guide.
Az-Zumar 39:24
ۚ
What of one who shields himself with his face from the terrible punishment on the Day of Resurrection? And the wrongdoers are told, “Taste what you used to earn.”
Az-Zumar 39:25
Those before them denied, and the punishment came upon them from where they did not perceive.
Az-Zumar 39:26
ۖ ۚ
So The God made them taste disgrace in worldly life. The punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.
Az-Zumar 39:27
We have set forth for people every kind of example in this Quran, so that they may take heed:
Az-Zumar 39:28
an Arabic Quran without any crookedness, so that they may be mindful.
Az-Zumar 39:29
ۚ ۚ
The God sets forth an example: a man shared by quarreling partners, and a man belonging wholly to one man. Are the two equal as an example? Praise belongs to The God. Rather, most of them do not know.
Az-Zumar 39:30
You will die, and they too will die.
Az-Zumar 39:31
Then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will dispute with one another before your Lord.
Az-Zumar 39:32
ۚ
Who is more unjust than one who lies about The God and denies the truth when it comes to him? Is there not a dwelling in Hell for the disbelievers?
Az-Zumar 39:33
ۙ
And the one who brought the truth and affirmed it—those are the mindful.
Az-Zumar 39:34
ۚ
They have whatever they wish with their Lord. That is the reward of those who do good,
Az-Zumar 39:35
so that The God may remove from them the worst of what they did and reward them according to the best of what they used to do.
Az-Zumar 39:36
ۖ ۚ
Is The God not sufficient for His servant? Yet they frighten you with those apart from Him. Whoever The God leads astray has no guide.
Az-Zumar 39:37
ۗ
And whoever The God guides has no one to lead him astray. Is The God not Mighty, Possessor of retribution?
Az-Zumar 39:38
ۚ ۚ ۖ
If you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will say, “The God.” Say, “Have you considered what you call upon apart from The God? If The God intends harm for me, can they remove His harm? Or if He intends mercy for me, can they withhold His mercy?” Say, “The God is sufficient for me. In Him those who trust place their trust.”
Az-Zumar 39:39
ۖ
Say, “My people, act according to your position; I too am acting. Soon you will know
Az-Zumar 39:40
whom a punishment will come upon to disgrace him, and upon whom a lasting punishment will descend.”
Az-Zumar 39:41
ۖ ۖ ۖ
We sent down the Book upon you for people in truth. Whoever is guided, it is for his own good; and whoever strays, he strays only to his own detriment. You are not a guardian over them.
Az-Zumar 39:42
ۖ ۚ
The God takes the souls at their death, and those that have not died during their sleep. He holds those for which He has decreed death and releases the others until a specified term. In this are signs for people who reflect.
Az-Zumar 39:43
ۚ
Or have they taken intercessors apart from The God? Say, “Even if they possess nothing and do not reason?”
Az-Zumar 39:44
ۖ ۖ
Say, “All intercession belongs to The God. His is the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned.”
Az-Zumar 39:45
ۖ
When The God alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter recoil. But when those apart from Him are mentioned, they rejoice.
Az-Zumar 39:46
Say, “O God, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, You judge between Your servants concerning that in which they differed.”
Az-Zumar 39:47
ۚ
If those who wronged possessed everything on earth and its like along with it, they would offer it as ransom from the terrible punishment on the Day of Resurrection. And there will appear to them from The God what they had not reckoned with.
Az-Zumar 39:48
The evils of what they earned will appear to them, and what they used to ridicule will engulf them.
Az-Zumar 39:49
ۚ
When harm touches the human being, he calls upon Us. Then, when We grant him a favor from Us, he says, “I was given it only on account of knowledge.” Rather, it is a trial, but most of them do not know.
Az-Zumar 39:50
Those before them said it too, but what they used to earn did not avail them.
Az-Zumar 39:51
ۚ
So the evils of what they earned struck them. And those among these who wronged will also be struck by the evils of what they earned, and they cannot escape.
Az-Zumar 39:52
ۚ
Do they not know that The God expands provision for whom He wills and restricts it? In this are signs for people who believe.
Az-Zumar 39:53
ۚ ۚ
Say, “My servants who have exceeded bounds against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of The God. The God forgives all sins. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”
Az-Zumar 39:54
Turn back to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.
Az-Zumar 39:55
And follow the best of what has been sent down to you from your Lord, before the punishment comes upon you suddenly while you are unaware,
Az-Zumar 39:56
lest a soul say, “Alas for my neglect concerning The God! I was among those who mocked.”
Az-Zumar 39:57
Or say, “Had The God guided me, I would have been among the mindful.”
Az-Zumar 39:58
Or say, when it sees the punishment, “If only I could return, so that I might be among those who do good.”
Az-Zumar 39:59
Yes, My signs came to you, but you denied them, acted arrogantly, and were among the disbelievers.
Az-Zumar 39:60
ۚ
On the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied about The God with their faces blackened. Is there not a dwelling in Hell for the arrogant?
Az-Zumar 39:61
The God will save those who were mindful through their attainment. No evil will touch them, nor will they grieve.
Az-Zumar 39:62
ۖ
The God is the Creator of all things, and He is Guardian over all things.
Az-Zumar 39:63
ۗ
His are the keys of the heavens and the earth. Those who disbelieve in the signs of The God are the losers.
Az-Zumar 39:64
Say, “Do you command me to worship other than The God, you ignorant ones?”
Az-Zumar 39:65
It has been revealed to you and to those before you: “If you associate partners, your work will surely come to nothing, and you will be among the losers.”
Az-Zumar 39:66
Rather, worship The God and be among the grateful.
Az-Zumar 39:67
ۚ
They have not esteemed The God as He deserves, while the whole earth will be in His grasp on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens folded in His right hand. Glory be to Him, and exalted is He above what they associate.
Az-Zumar 39:68
ۖ
The trumpet will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on earth will fall stricken, except whom The God wills. Then it will be blown again, and suddenly they will be standing, looking.
Az-Zumar 39:69
The earth will shine with its Lord’s light, the record will be set down, the prophets and witnesses will be brought, and judgment will be made between them in truth. They will not be wronged.
Az-Zumar 39:70
Every soul will be repaid in full for what it did, and He knows best what they do.
Az-Zumar 39:71
ۖ ۚ
Those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers say to them, “Did messengers from among yourselves not come to you, reciting your Lord’s signs to you and warning you of the meeting of this day of yours?” They will say, “Yes, but the word of punishment has come true against the disbelievers.”
Az-Zumar 39:72
ۖ
It will be said, “Enter the gates of Hell, remaining there.” What an evil dwelling for the arrogant!
Az-Zumar 39:73
ۖ
Those who were mindful of their Lord will be led to the Garden in groups, until, when they reach it and its gates are opened, its keepers say to them, “Peace upon you. You have become good and pure, so enter it, remaining there.”
Az-Zumar 39:74
ۖ
And they will say, “Praise belongs to The God, who fulfilled His promise to us and made us inherit the land. We settle wherever we wish in the Garden.” How excellent is the reward of those who work!
Az-Zumar 39:75
ۖ
You will see the angels surrounding the Throne, glorifying their Lord with praise. Judgment will be made between them in truth, and it will be said, “Praise belongs to The God, Lord of all worlds.”
